Great participation for our first preliminary semifinal, and another exciting finish that will require a tiebreaker to resolve! The top 14 slots are secure, but because Endless Deep, Treasure(Whatever Happened To Pete The Chop), Boomerang II, and Hallelujah(Here She Comes) are all tied for 15th place with 9 votes a piece, one will have to be chosen in a tiebreaker already running concurrent to this next semifinal.

Additionally, Winter has, sadly, been eliminated in the 2000-Present Preliminary Quarterfinal Tiebreaker Round.

With the first, 1979-1989, preliminary semifinal out of the way, we have, pending the tiebreaker, pared the contenders down to 45 tracks, less than half of the initial pool, and we now move on to the second semifinal.

This is the 1990-Present Preliminary Semifinal, meaning the 15 tracks that advanced from the 1990-1999 Preliminary Quarterfinal and the 15 tracks that advanced from the 2000-Present Preliminary Quarterfinal will compete in the same 30-song poll together. With the most easily dismissible tracks eliminated already, it gets harder now, and you will have to make some very difficult cuts.

Instructions: In this poll, 30 non-album tracks from 1990-Present will be available to vote for, with voting for multiple items enabled. You will vote for your TOP 15 FAVORITE tracks.

It is essential to the integrity of the competition that you vote for EXACTLY 15 tracks, not any more or any less. There is no way to lock you into a certain number of votes, so it is up to you to monitor yourselves.

Because 15 tracks is a lot to decide on, this poll will be open for 48 hours to give everyone a chance to vote.

Here is a list of tracks in this poll, all linked to YT for your reference.

Again, apologies for those three AB re-issue tracks that aren't on YT or Dailymotion.

Just wanted to say, I'm a bit bummed Deep In The Heart didn't make the cut. I'd have taken it in place of Disappearing Act or A Room At The Heartbreak Hotel.

Not ready to vote on this yet.

These bad boys choose themselves:

Alex Descends Into Hell
Lady With the Spinning Head
Where Did It All Go Wrong
HMTMKMKM
North and South of the River
I'm Not Your Baby
The Ground Beneath Her Feet
Electrical Storm
Are You Gonna Wait Forever
Fast Cars
Smile
Native Son
Mercy

I then had a hard choice to choose 2 songs out of Down All the Days, Summer Rain, and Stateless. In the end, well, Stateless's progression is assured, so I chose the other two to avoid needing to figure out some ranking.

The following were all easy choices that already had a lot of votes:

Lady With The Spinning Head
Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me
The Ground Beneath Her Feet
Stateless
Electrical Storm
Mercy
Invisible
The Crystal Ballroom

LWTSH and HMTMKMKM are two of the ten tracks I pegged before starting this competition as first-ballot most likely contenders to win the whole thing. The two MDH tracks and Mercy are up there as well(the others were Love Comes Tumbling, 11 O'Clock Tick Tock, Luminous Times, Spanish Eyes, and Sweetest Thing, with an honorable mention to Party Girl, if you were wondering). I personally think The Crystal Ballroom should go far, but there's probably too much competition for it to make the top 10.

Anyway, that's eight of my votes.

There were five tracks tied with eight votes apiece(it looks like we're going to have another tiebreaker for this round) - Alex Descends, Holy Joe, Two Shots, Summer Rain, and Levitate.

I gave three of my votes to Alex, Holy Joe, and Two Shots, in order to bump them up out of the tiebreaker and guarantee their progression.

That's eleven.

I used another vote to bump North And South Of The River up from 7 to 8 votes and thus into the tiebreaker to give it another chance to advance.

That's twelve.

My final three votes are symbolic votes for tracks that have no chance anymore of advancing:

Down All The Days
Slow Dancing
I'm Not Your Baby

I'm heartbroken Slow Dancing didn't do better, as it might be a top 15 non-album track for me. Just so beautiful and naked.

I'm Not Your Baby w/Sinead has such an infectious groove and captures the spirit of the late 90s for me. Love it.

I came down to Down All The Days and Oh Berlin. It was a toss-up. They're both a little longer than they needed to be, and they're both very atmospheric and evocative, but when it came down it and I had to pick, I felt like Down All The Days was just a little more interesting.

That's fifteen.
