Bands that sound like U2

What are some of the bands out there that you think sound like U2?

Is it wrong for a band to sound like U2?

I guess Coldplay's guitar player sounds similar to Edge.

The Alarm definitely sound similar to them.

And no, I don't think it's a bad thing at all. If you're going to sound like a band, U2'd be a pretty good one to emulate.

Coldplay are UF U2, just repackaged. I don't mind it at all. That's my favourite U2 era.

The more bands that make quality, U2-y music without being blatant ripoffs, the better.
"Mediocrity is never so dangerous as when it is dressed up as sincerity." - Søren Kierkegaard

Ian McCulloch the U2 fan:
"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

I'm actually I'm listening to them right now. Yes they are obviously very influenced by U2 but "the Golden Hum" is a great album.

Wayne Hussey's voice from The Mission sometimes reminds of Bono's, cool band by the way.

not in an overt way but there are similarities...and the killers just rock!!

the guitarist plays a guitar that's practically Edge's guitar, and he says his favorite guitarist is The Edge!! thats awesome!

Longwave is a good band who say that the Unforgettable Fire album was a big influence on the sound of their band, and you can hear it in their music. I saw them play a show here and they were great. Kind of like U2 meets the Strokes.

Charlie Mars isn't very well known but one day I was watching TV and saw him, but hadn't heard his music yet. The guy interviewing him said he sounded like Bono, so I was instantly hooked. Sure enough when he and his band started playing it was really creepy how much he sounded like bono. You can listen to him at it's good stuff.
