"As guests on MTV in '82 -Bono, The Edge, Adam, and Larry - they were asked to describe what they had that separated them from other artists, what made them special. If you think about it, it was a pretty ballsy question, but then again the channel was young. U2 simply responded, 'Watch us and see.' So here we are almost two decades, thirteen albums, millions of fans and more than 50 music videos later, we find ourselves still watching.

Their music - the unforgettable fires and the streets with no names - stretched far beyond the sonic landscape. The beat of every U2 song is the pulse of every human heart. When Bono shouts 'This is not a rebel song' at the start of 'Sunday, Bloody Sunday', we know that it really is. It is the sound of a generation rebelling against its own indifference.

And yes, the rumors are true. These four lads from Dublin are, indeed, rock stars. They smoke. They drink. They use bad language in mixed company. They're extremely rich and they can flash more bling than most posses in this room. They have also - they have also done more than most governments to eliminate debt in Third World countries. Rock stars they are, and God bless them for that.

What really separates U2 from the rest, more importantly, is relevance. The only thing that keeps an artists credible and alive for this long is relevance. From Boy to Joshua Tree to All That You Can't Leave Behind, this is what music feels like when it's done right. It's a fist in the air, a kick in the balls, and two hearts beating as one, and we have it all on video for you."

Please tell me that isn't your sig

I don't have any myself, but a search on eBay pulls up lots of good stuff. Just type in "U2 single" and there should be at least some of the stuff you're looking for. I would get a lot of them myself, but I just don't have the cash right now.

Hahaha...yes, unfortunately it is.....but i'll be sure not to post it more than once in a single thread

To the best of my knowledge, I have all the singles. I've been a fan since '83, so I bought some singles as they were released. Those I didn't buy immediately, I was able to easily obtain a few years later (often, when a new U2 album is released, the singles from the older albums are re-released for a while).

Do you want CD or 45 rpm vinyl singles? I have many in both.

I'm not sure if I have doubles of any that I'd sell (can check) but I can guide you.

Having collected singles for some time, here are your best bets to find them:
  • My first recommendation is to try your local music stores - including places like Best Buy. As I wrote above, often when a new U2 album is released, the older singles are also re-released. And with ATYCLB and the tour being such huge hits, you might be surprised to find some big name stores carrying some older singles.
  • Check used record stores. This is your best bet at finding material. Often you will find 45 rpm singles there. These days, used record stores also have used CDs. So be sure to check both the records and CDs. You may also find some great U2 boots this way too.
  • Check U2.com - they are selling some 80's CD singles. Check Dotmusic.com - they are a UK site that has many U2 singles. Check HMV (Australia) and other foreign country (assuming you are within the U.S.) music sites. Often foreign music sites have access to music (especially older music) that is not available any more in the U.S.
  • Go to your favorite music store and request that they order the singles for you. Some GOOD music stores will order items and even call you when they come in.
  • Someone mentioned eBay. That's not a bad place to go, if you are "desperate." eBay is great for many things, however, for these CD singles, I often find the bidding becomes ridiculously high. Therefore, go to other music store sites first. But if you've tried everything with no luck, then eBay or other auction sites (Yahoo) may be your best and last chance at finding what you seek.

Those are my recommendations for now. My biggest tip is to be patient. Don't expect to get everything at once. Also, learn what singles were released. Some are in CD format, some are not. Decide if you ONLY want CD or 45 rpm or both. And be prepared to have/spend $$. Even a CD single can cost $5-10 these days.

Good luck!

Actually, I've found a lot of reasonable prices on eBay. Most of the more popular singles can be had for under $10, and a few bargains are found for as little as $3. Keep in mind, though, that you'll generally have to pay anwhere from $1-3 extra for shipping.

I think it's a matter of "catching" eBay at the right time. For example, there's this "rare" Walmart only version of "Hold Me...Kill Me" that came with a Batman comic Book. I've seen this CD (it only has the one song - also came with stickers and other items) go for $30 and up. I've also seen it as low as $5 on eBay. So it really is a matter of timing and how much an item is in demand.
