This tune is boss !!! Edge is the man. Compare this track with Lemon. that tune had no guitar yet this full of rhytym and electric guitar. Morse code, the bass, the drums, the electric guitar, stirred in a cauldron of soul , spirit and rock'n'roll

Why compare these two songs? They are nothing alike other than the fact that they are both by U2, and great tunes.

I think that the one track ABOY can't be compared to is a masterpiece like Lemon.
Still, a great HTDAAB track that is gonna be a monster live next year.

That may have possibly been THE single most pointless song comparison I've ever read.

I think ABOY reminds me more of Desire (with the chords, tempo and simplicity). With that being said I'm not a big fan of ABOY but I'm sure it'll sound better live.
BTW LEMON ROCKS

I frequently champion ABOY because of the ridiculous criticism it gets on here...I find it a very satisfying song to listen to, great rock and roll beat, great melodies. ace solo :)

I like the part when Bono does that rock star scream. He's never done that before (as far as I know).

RRRAAOOWWW!!

the reason for the comparison was because i was listening to Lemon (live) just beforeo ABOY on my mp3 player.

I wanted to highlight the many musical extremes of u2, experimenal rock/pop, dropping one of rock's essential tools to making optimum use of it on this track.

BO !!!

also , you must admit there are some interesting hooks and riffs on native son and xanax and wine. it seems steve lillywhite and co commercialised these tracks, forgoing any sponteanous sounds.

The man speaks the truth. It's full of all those crazy guitar effects that rjhbonovox loves so much.

I love the guitar (especially the slide guitar) and the bridge, but I still think the chorus is completely off-key. I think it's the weakest song on the album; but I still don't skip it... It's a strong album!

is the edge pretending to play guitar on the live version from zootv from sydney ?

Nope. He's playing the same part as on the record. That tremelo thingy. Listen to Lemon. In the intro you've got drums, bass, Bono's falsetto, and Edge's stuttery guitar chords.

I like it, sounds like U2 covering a 60's rock band (I know about the Who comments).
I couldn't compare it to any other album or song.

It just don't sound like a guitar..........

No. It sounds better than a guitar. I've tried to get the same sound on my multi-effects pedal, but it just doesn't work out quite the same way. There's something about the way that The Edge plays that is impossible to mimic.
