A Question about "The Sweetest Thing"

If I'm right this song was also on the Street single... being a poor college student, I don't have any singles ... so how different was the song from what was officially released for the best of "1980-1990" CD (well apart from vocal differences ofcourse)? Is there somewhere where I can hear the original?

the two CD-version of the greatest hits includes the original version (on the B-sides disc), which can be found at Best Buy still...
it was basically rerecorded in 1998 with a more polished sound and different guitar parts.....I still prefer the original one though.

actually i prefer the new version, it's more likeable! but the original one is a real soul powered song!

The new version has a string section where the old version had the middle bit with Bono improvising/singing.
And the ending with the new one is different; just the "do do do do"s instead of the more howling Bono finish.

I also prefer the new version!

I love the bridge in the original, the change of tempo instead of strings and Bono howls. Plus, it has that raw R&B vibe (as in original R&B, not the drivel they call R&B nowadays).
