yeah, quite shocking really...

in the mens singles draw the only country that still has multiple players left is the Czech Republic.

Well, I guess not everyone. ;)

It just seems like quite a few people here were rooting against him. I just wondered if there was reason.

well i root against him myself, always have really. partly because he always used to play Federer in the finals of stuff and it was incredibly boring  plus the media over here hypes him to no end, and that always puts me off players ;)

I love roddick , intresting watching the guy serve.

How did Murray pull it off lol ?

hate murray cos he disrespects the english.

I like Roddick too, dissappointed to see him go out.

What exactly has Murray been saying about the English? I keep hearing about this..

Well you can hardly blame Federer for being too good.

Blame his opposition for not being better. He'll be found out eventually.

I'm not blaming Federer or his opponents, but for me it's boring him winning all the time.

Murray actually made a couple of throwaway comments about buying a Paraguay or Trinidad jersey and supporting whoever England were playing.

Your lovely English media then proceeded to blow it way out of proportion. Hell, Murray was joking about it with Tim Henman afterwards. If Andy Murray disrespected English people then Henman wouldn't be his idol, then, would he? His blog was then spammed by complete idiots despite Murray clarifying he never actually meant those comments seriously. Dumb thing to say in the first place, but hardly indicative that he hates England.

That said I find him terribly annoying for some reason.

As for Federer it's not like it's not happened before. Sampras, Becker, McEnroe, Borg. Williams, Graf, and Navratilova in the women's.

another performance by Federer on a level that I've quite frankly never seen from anyone but him

unbelievable

the way Ancic played he would have beaten just about anyone else 3-0

it was just amazing

I dont know about 3-0 but what I find incredible is Ancic is number 10 in the world and an excellent grass court player and still he didn't look like he had any business being with federer on the court.

In fact....I can't remember anyone looking like they had any business being across from federer on grass.

The man is truly a remarkable talent.

Ancic was the last guy to beat him at Wimbledon. Hell, Ancic was the last guy to beat him on grass. Federer was unbelievable last night, considering the fact his draw would have been tough for most other players - Gasquet, Henman, Mahut, Berdych and Ancic.

I'm pleased for Baghdatis, by the way, who looked to have fallen off the wayside a bit after the Australian Open. Good win for him, and I think he's got a decent chance against either Nieminen or Nadal. Pleased for Bjorkman as well.

I'm so glad Mauresmo won. :) It's going to be difficult for me, though... I like Justine as well!

WHA, as for Roddick, I think he can be a bit of an idiot on the court when he starts to challenge calls. His ego comes through just a little too strongly at times. Above all, I think he's highly over-rated in North America. He's the US golden boy and he can do no wrong in the eyes of the commentators. That's always a bit annoying. And what's with his serve?! There's no need to stick your rear out like that! Just serve normally!

That said, he seems like a nice enough guy off the court.

Roger demolished Bjorkman today. I hope he'll be battling against Nadal in the finals! I despise Nadal so much that I'm not even watching his match against Baghdatis.

I didn't watch the match, but I just saw the score on MSNBC's home page. Ouch.

I'm hoping it's Roger and Nadal in the finals too. I think that is a really good rivalry (I want Roger to win :) ).

The Roger/Rafa rivalry is one of my favourites. I rank it just behind the old McEnroe/Connors rivalry! And seeing as Nadal just handled Baghdatis with relative ease, it's going to be an interesting Wimbledon final.

I'll be routing for Nadal.

I want to see someone beat Roger in a major on a surface other than clay for once.

I am so sick of Federer winning every damn match he plays.

the final will be interesting, but Federer is playing near perfect tennis...i find it hard to see him losing this.

i bet after losing to Nadal on clay 3 times in finals this year, Federer will be thrilled with the chance for revenge on his favourite court/surface.

Both players have something to prove now. Nadal has to prove that he isn't just another clay-court specialist ( albeit he is has the record for consecutive wins on clay) While Federer has to prove he can beat Nadal. It has the makings of a classic final which unfortunately rarely lives up to expectations but I will be watching.

Why do the women sound like they are having monster orgasm's when they're smacking the ball.........is it a tactic to put off their opponent, or are they really releasing energy:shrug:

I agree- he has demolished some really good players in straight sets on his way to the final - though I think Nadal is really good I don't reckon he's a match for Federer on grass.

Intriguing as hell. Here's a guy who's a multiple Grand Slam winner, seeded 2nd, and when he gets to the final it's still damn surprising.

Well done Rafa. It'll be a very interesting match-up tomorrow, considering Federer's superiority on grass but Nadal's winning record against him. Federer is still odds-on favourite of course but for Rafa to make it this far is amazing.

Congratulations, Mauresmo! I was hoping Justine would win, just so that she could extend her grand slam streak. But Amelie is a nice person and a fantastic tennis player, so I was glad to see her raising the Wimbledon trophy. :) She fought brilliantly to get back into it after playing so terribly in the first set and having such a bad serve in the second.
