Romanticism, Neo-classicism, Impressionism, Realism, etc, etc, etc. So, heres some examples of the stuff that I like, not all art, and I really focused on John Constable simply because I think he's really really good. So yeah. Enjoy-eth ye thee arte of ages passt. (ok, so maybe thats going back a little too far.. meh)

I saw a Degas exhibit once. The whole ballerina thing just kind of weirds me out.
Thomas Kinkade... they put up about 100 random Kinkade prints in the various engineering buildings on campus. Supposed to lighten up the atmosphere I guess.

Goya I also like very much

unforgettableFOXfire ~ I have a postcard of this exact statue on my desk. weird. it's so beautiful.

besides me :D my favorite artists (subject to change) are Mark Rothko (surprised to see him mentioned so many times already), Warhol, Michelangelo (the Pieta is amazing) Da Vinci, Van Gogh (whoever made the comment about seeing his work in person was absolutely right - it cannot be captured effectively in reprints). I also love seeing Seurat and the other Pointillists' work in person, it's amazing how they were able to do that! I also saw a really cool exhibit at the Design museum in London of some web artists earlier this year, but unfortunately I can't recall most of their names. One of them was Bjork's significant other, I want to say his name was Matthey Barney?

Modigliani
Monet
Bogureau
Van Gogh
Matisse
de la Tour
Toulouse Lautrec
Waterhouse

I'm basically a 19th century art fan, from Neo-classicism to the Pre-Raphaelites to the Academics and the Impressionists.

I'm very much into fine arts and it's really hard for me to choose,
however I'll name a few of my BEST favourites:Van Gough,
Matisse,Rembrandt(especially The Return Of the Prodigal Son and
the portraits - just wonderful!),Mark Shagal,Larionov,Lentulov,
Goncharova,(Russian avantgarde,beg.20th century),French impressionism,.Joan Miro...

i have framed versions of the scream and the persistance of memory in my room, so i guess Dal? or Munch.
i watched a doco on Van gogh once poor man he was, hey tha's a pun.. *hides*

ACK!! You found my favorite painting of all time. I totally fell in love with this one as a highschool student visiting the Art Institute in Chicago. I could stand in front of it for hours. It is absolutely stunning in person. In college I did a research paper on Berthe and her work.

I also really like Rothko. Someday I'd like to decorate my home with his prints.

I'm also facinated by greco-roman style sculptures.

Paul Gauguin (he lived a really interesting life; I had to write a paper about him in French and it got me hooked). I prefer him to other Impressionists/Post-Impressionists because of his bold choice of colour, rather than the tame pastels Monet et al. usually go for.

Modigliani (I love the unique style)

Dali has some really crazy, off the wall paintings...I like his work. He was way ahead of his time, in my opinion.

fav artist....hmmmmmmmmm

Still me....roflmao...My local art critic tried to tell me this looks like Dali saw a robin fly into a stain glass window....lol...but it is my Abstract impression of The Phoenix on canvas.:sexywink:
