What da heck happened with Madonna's film 'Swept Away'....?

All I know is that it bombed BADLY in America, prob worse than her one 'Body of Evidence'...........they say the UK wont ever have it.....that the States and UK 'swept it under the rug'...

But WAIT!

I heard that Madge was extremely unhappy at how she was in that film, how she looked - wasnt it directed by hubby Guy?

In which case there are reports that now their marriage is on the rocks, fact he made her look too rugged and muscly and manly and rough, in the film.............but whats wrong with the film? Was it Madge? Or the whole thing? Or did she get upset and threaten?



I still watch anything with her in......though most pple comment shes a crap actress, curiousity makes me watch.......but even if it did go STV I still wanna see!

I like Mads......I really do, but I really only see her as a singer and dancer....I think she tries to hard when acting........shes not one bit relaxed, you can see it in her face...............though Evita, was fantastic!

Actually in just looking:

Madonna looks too wrong here..........first of, the tan she has, 2nd - the make-up, 3rd the hair........if anything......tan should NOT have been that colour, 2nd - no make-up for real effect, and 3rd, hair changed completely to take away the Music-Madonna image..........thats one prob with Madonna and acting...................

that was full pic size in a mag over here, I showed it to mum and she asked, 'Whos that?' She near choked when I said Madonna.......she thought she looked like a man! Over-muscly see, and now the muscles are sagging....shes too old to be over-doing it at the gym.......she looks drained and gaunt now.......instead of rounded and mumsie...................and the hair, dye it back Mads!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh but how I tink Guy and others took the piss outta her deliberately in this movie.......

I love Madonna, but watching her act is like having a root canal. She was good in a Evita, and League of their Own and Dick Tracy are cute. Everything else is painful. (Have you seen Body of Evidence, Maddie? It's like soft porn. )

Anyway, I do like Die Another Day. The video is a little scary but the song is bitchin'! And I'm going to see the new Bond film with my dad, cause Madonna has a cameo in it.

As far as the marriage, I dunno. I only gave them a year and a half, so they've already surpassed my expectations. (Two year annivesary is next month.) I don't really see it lasting. Which is a shame, for Rocco and even Lola's sake.

The problem with Madonna is that she picks terrible roles. I do not think she should even be considered for starring roles, because, frankly, she is not a "starring actress" type. If anything, she should consider playing villains, and certainly not romantic leading ladies. Guy Ritchie, if he had stuck with his usual "bad ass" style of film, probably could have made a decent film putting Madonna in a completely unlikely role.

Heck, he even made a 7-minute film short with Madonna, "Star," that seemingly was on the right track (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0286151). So what went wrong? Madonna probably attempting to, as usual, put herself in the "leading lady" spot, where she shouldn't be. I'd love to see her as a villain someday...

I agree with you, melon--she's the perfect villain. I also really liked Evita although I don't know if it was because of Madonna or not. Visually it was beautiful and I already liked the soundtrack so it was hard to go wrong.

given that she's only had about four or five successful movies and around fifteen flops, i'm almost surprised she gets as many roles as she does, because for most people they would have no acting career by now. i suppose it's because she's such a successful singer, that maybe producers keep thinking this'll be the one out of like 10 probability she's been having with movies.

am a huge fan of madonnas music, i dont really follow her personal life, so i cant really say what her marriage is like, last pic i saw of them they looked happy.


about her movies, i have seen most of them and some are pretty cheezy i must admit, but desperatley seeking suan was really cool for its day, and whos that girl was funny , league of their own was good. Evita was FAB also andrea corr was in it

tho i must say body of evidence, shanghai surprise and the one she did with rupert everet well they sucked big time too
