But CDs are soooo FOOOOKIN expensive! e22 for the 1 today And was thinking of 40 licks, but 30 euro, yikey!

Ash are a young 4-piece band from Belfast in Northern Ireland who have released three albums and a new Singles collection. Their albums are:

1977
Nu-clear Sounds
Free All Angels

I think they've been going since about 1995/96 and they specialise in powerful punk-rock songs and indie-punk melodic ballads. But all that categorising doesn't do them much justice.
Lead singer Tim Wheeler is a catchy writer/lyricist and they are at their peak at the moment. I recommend Free All Angels or 1977, apparently Nu-Clear Sounds was a dog according to a lot of people.

Why do you still subject crowds to tracks from your second album, Nu-Clear Sounds, when everyone knows it was wank?

Tim Wheeler: Miaaaow! Is the address there? We know where you live, mate. Generally people were disappointed because it was different to 1977, but the reviews were really favourable when it came out. A lot of people wrote us off after it didn't do well, and it was a shock to the system. I think we were associated with the Britpop thing, so we suffered from the backlash.

Thanks basstrap, not bad in the choices there yourself, and Flaming Lips Soft Bulletin is mighty, get that as soon as you can!

For those who say NuClear Sounds by Ash is shite, or believe it to be shite, please give it a decent listen before you are sure. It's a damn fine record, some very very good songs. like Tim Wheeler says, it's not really Britpop, much heavier in places, and that's a big part of the reason it got torn to pieces by some fans/critics, like they weren't allowed to make something so serious and proper

And yertle-the-turtle, something by Supergrass? I'd recommend In It For The Money as a starter, it's their best album, but the others are far from bad
