After dinner I went to A&B sound with the intention of picking up the Velvet Revolver CD. While walking around the store, the stereo played some awesome music which sounded like Janes Addiction. I inquire about the music playing to the guy at the til who informed me that it was a small up and coming band by the name of "Welcome to the North." Their sound is a combination of Radiohead, Coldplay and Janes Addiction. I bought the CD of course 'cause it's not everyday when I'm at the right place at the right time to discover such a musical treasure. I'm listening to the CD right now and it fuckin' rocks. More info on the band: http://www.welcometothenorth.com/ or http://www.the-music.fr/themusic/sites/fo/http://www.welcometothenorth.com/

Actually, the album is called Welcome To The North. The band itself is called The Music... I guess I haven't done a good enough job lauding their praises, seeing as a new thread pops up every so often claiming discovery.

You may want to see the other merged thread here.

I would say that the Coldplay/Radiohead comparison is not entirely accurate.

More like a Led Zeppelin/electronic fusion with a dash of hip-hop on top.

But the new album has more of a rock/pop/electronic/Zepp feel to it.....gotta have the Zepp feel.
