Jenn and Bingy duet

I don't know what counts as religious content, really. I just know that we have to get it approved beforehand. We've thought of plenty of songs for the party a couple of days later, but somehow I don't think songs like Elbow's 'Asleep In the Back' are wedding-ceremony appropriate.
It'd be almost as good as my "creep" performance, I"m sure!!

"Asleep in the Back"

This one's a bit overdone, but it's still a beautiful song... "At Last" by Etta James.

I went to a wedding over the weekend and the couple used "Lenny" by Stevie Ray Vaughan for their song. There aren't any words. It's a gorgeous song, though. Have you considered something without words?

INXS "Never Tear Us Apart"

Don't ask me
What you know is true
Don't have to tell you
I love your precious heart

I
I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never tear us apart

We could live
For a thousand years
But if I hurt you
I'd make wine from your tears

I told you
That we could fly
'Cause we all have wings
But some of us don't know why

I
I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never ever tear us apart

Megan, why not a Starsailor song? If I remember correctly, you two met at a Starsailor board...why not a song from them that has a lot of meaning for the both of you?

We thought using a U2 song would be very cheesy. hehe

We are using Track 3 from the Sigur Ros album without a name

Shania Twain's "From this Moment" would be a perfect wedding song. Don't know if some of these lyrics would be considered too much religious content though.

"From This Moment On"

(I do swear that I'll aways be there.
I'd give anything and everything and I will always care.
Through weakness and strength, happiness and sorrow,
for better or worse, I will love you with
every beat of my heart.)
From this moment life has begun
From this moment you are the one
Right beside you is where I belong
From this moment on

From this moment I have been blessed
I live only for your happiness
And for your love I'd give my last breath
From this moment on

I give my hand to you with all my heart
Can't wait to live my life with you, can't wait to start
You and I will never be apart
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you, I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment on

You're the reason I believe in love
And you're the answer to my prayers from up above
All we need is just the two of us
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you, I promise you this
From this moment
I will love you as long as I live
From this moment on

Ooh ooh ooh! I vote for this one!! It's one of my all-time favorites - my best friend & I use it as our "theme song". In a strictly platonic/best friend kind of way, though - not the romantic/love-of-my life kind of way!

Seriously, though, that's a good choice, IMHO.

This is a nice choice for a more traditionally romantic type of song. My brother and sister-in-law used it at their wedding & it certainly brought on the waterworks for me!

(One more thing on this subject & I'll stop posting! )

Is it just me or does anyone else find it SAD that the music to be played a WEDDING ceremony, whether at the Registrar's office or in the back of a taxi, is restricted to not contain any "religious" content?!?!? Um, what's next??? Rewrite the wedding vow so no religious references are made????

God bless the Politically Correct among us.......

I don't find it sad at all.

But I see myself waving the separation of church and state flag in about three seconds so I think I'll just stop and wish the soon-to-be betrothed couple good luck with their wedding plans!
