Canada is still the best but they may have to many egos roaming around out on the ice at one time, their line combinations are like Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin -- talented at what they do but try getting them to work together

+ the ego that is Pat Quinn.

The defensive lines were absolutely atrocious last night. The offence wasn't much better either. Brutal all around.

Thumbs up to America on the ice. Men and women have been doing pretty damn well lately, don't you think?

good tie tonight, Richter was great in nets, team dominated late in the game to get the tie *is semi-pleased with tonight's results*

A win would obviously have been preferred, but this should set us up for the #1 position and a game against Germany in the opening medal round. Have to assume we'll knock of Belarus which means the best Russia can do is a tie with us in terms of record (2-0-1), I believe the first tie-breaker is goal differential, and while that certainly hasn't been determined we currently have a two goal margin on Russia with a weaker opponent left on the schedule.

Never mind this. What about Steven Bradbury? He wins because all the others fall over, including America's great hope. American's great hope, the fantastically named Mr Ohno, graciously accepts defeat. But what do the crowd do when Bradbury goes to get his medal? They boo.

USA indeed.

jesus crist bullet, who gives a fuck about that, go bitch about speed skating and the US somewhere fucking else, this thread is about ice hockey

the US team is made up of NHL all-stars, and Belarus has maybe 1 player from the NHL I think? there are 5 almost evenly matched teams in the Olympics (USA, Russia, Canada, Sweden, Czech Republic), Finland and Slovakia are decent with a few NHL-ers on their teams, but can't compete with those top 6, and then teams like Belarus, Germany, Austria, Latvia, France and Norway are basically just happy to be there (kind of like the USA in World Cup soccer)

The Russians are playing like a peewee team. They're goners for sure.

Wow! The Russians sure did pick up in the 3rd!!! I must admit I felt sorry for them and actually wanted them to win....

(and of course, I knew by the way they were playing in the 1st and 2nd, Canada would have a better chance of defeating them than the U.S.!!!!!)
