ah yes, one of the most underrated bands in recent music history
they changed the way people saw Trance and Hard House in many ways, that it can be intelligent, and it can convey emotions
and the band members are no spring chickens either. The two remaining members have been around since the early 80s when they were struggling one-hit-wonder makers. Its obvious they were been held back, had their creativity stunted or something by that crazycrazycrazycrazycrazy decade HECK! they were once the support act to the Eurythmics!
Dubnobasswithmyheadman simply and purely sold because the Australian folks here were just totally in love with that stupid 80s song 'Underneath the Radar', they were in for a rude awakening though. And many were perplexed and the general consensus these days is Underworld has er... 'changed'
They went completely and utterly berserk come the 2nd LP, Second Toughest In The Infants which was just MAD . but in amidst all the insanity which broke out from their Aphex Twin, Autechre induced form of music, somewhere in there lied a ghost of a rock band that died a long time ago, and to highlight that trance music could be intelligent songs made sense, it didnt need lyrics to tell a story, singing was merely an instrument. Instead the story was told via the atmospheres and grooves, the sounds, the beats and and the moods which was generated
Born Slippy turned out to be one of the greatest anthems which was ever released in the past decade
and even though things were a tad bit disappointing in the most recent album, this band has changed the way people look at electronica. And it remains to be seen if there would be another band quite capable of such creativity
We anxiously await the upcoming album, whenever that is. its long overdue, and its bound to be a cracker
