Toshibas are pretty reliable - I'm using one right now, and it's been great for over a year now!

What's compaq like? And what specs do you recommend I look for?

Depends on what you're gonna use it for really. I'm not much of a computer nerd myself, I just know bits that I've picked up here and there, but I think these days a reasonable cheap laptop is something like

Dual-core processor
1Gb DDR2 RAM
120Gb HDD
DVD burner
and the usual stuff like sound, 4 USB ports, Wireless internet, Bluetooth etc.

I could level the same accusations at rugby union - why are they always kicking the ball out? How come we have to wait three weeks for a scrum or lineout? Why does the ball seem to be in play for fuck all of 80 minutes?

This is bollocks and you know it. You go on and on about kicking in rugby union and exaggerate it to a point of ridiculousness; you place far too much undue weight on it. And you're daft if you think it's even remotely as slow and agonisingly drawn out as American pansyball.

It's not outlandish to point out that American pansyball is clearly an inferior sport because they're such wimps they have to wear padding, they need separate offence and defence teams, and they stop for a breather every five seconds rather than clearing the ball and having a flowing game. It's sport only for the most simple-minded people on earth.

When i watch rugby i'm seeing a game that is meant to be flowing being dragged out to the nth degree - so much so that it hurts.

American Football is a totally different sport, you're comparing apples and oranges. The only time i make the comparison is when i'm trying to con an American into league by claiming it's just like American Football only faster!
