I know this sort of cricket probably isn't new to the poms who have been watching it for a year, but I just saw my first ever Twenty20 match last night and it was awesome!

Anyway, I was wondering what sort of role the game will have in the cricket world - will it kill off another code, or will it slot in nicely? Will a specialist Twenty20 team emerge from each country, or will it draw from one day teams?

I didn't like it until I watched it and then thought it was brilliant. Just the thing cricket needs to take off in other countries too, I reckon. China's getting involved more now, according to something on the news the other day. I reckon America could lap up Twenty20, even.

They told Packer ODIs would never take off, remember? How sweet to be so damn wrong!

The very first Twenty20 international played in England was between England and Australia at the Rose Bowl in Hampshire on the 13th June 2005. England won the match by 100 runs.

If England can keep doing that it'll be fine by me if Twenty20 takes off!

Seriously though with Twenty20 drawing such huge crowd attendances I think it's a dead cert to became a permanent cricketing fixture. It's also pretty unique so I think it's more likely to "slot in nicely" than kill off say, one day cricket.
