Outside of U2, name the top 20 artists of the last 25 years since 1980 or so....I would like to know if this forum is more for 80s artists, 90s artists or 2000s artists......Plus I want to see what everybodies taste in "modern" music is.
 
I don't have the patience to name a top 20, but these are my favorites.

The Talking Heads (even though they debuted in 1977, the bulk of their work occured in the 80's ;))

few people mentioned THE CURE...... I'm shocked!!!!

Robert Smith is such an important artist of the last 25 years, especially in the 80's..... their music has the best melodies a musician can ever think of......
