Weatherfield is a made up suburb of Manchester. The outside filming is done on a mocked up street in Manchester, which is actually based in a studio.

Blackpool is sort of a downmarket Las Vegas, VERY tacky. If you live in the North West of England you will have been there many times (as have I)
