I know how much NSW salivates at the mention of Catherine Wheel, but I can't say I've heard any of their stuff, at least can't remember if I have. Is that a good place to start?

I find shoegaze good, not great. It suffers, to a lesser extent, the redundancy that plagues a lot of post-rock.
