I read that one - it was tough going indeed. Am I the only one that things the Oprah stamp of approval is a death knell as for how much I'll like a book?

Did you read cell yet? I loved it - I bloody well hate phones, I think you should only be able to text on them, so Cell sang to my heart

I'd hate to generalize, but, yeah, if Oprah loves it and thinks her viewers will love it, the odds are against me liking it, but there are surely some exceptions.

I've successfully done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING since 10am. wow.
I should panic soon as I had a lot planned for the day but I'm not in the mood to even freak out.

I agree - there have been a couple that I liked, but it's definitely been a general theme with most of them.

That is a funny contradiction, being a book snob but loving King, who is reviled by self styled "people of letters", but the people of letters too easily discount the power of imagination. Eh.

I think the only other DMB song I like a lot is Ants Marching.

I cannot imagine a bookless night...that's fucking scary.

I really like his no-nonsense style. People who lapse into 4 page long, flowery descriptions of the facade of a building, for example, piss me off. I'd like to grab the author by the throat and scream "it's a fucking building, get over yourself."

I just started reading The Handmaid's Tale by Atwood, one of the few Atwood novels I haven't read yet. Atwood as a person bugs me - too pretentious for my liking - but her stories are good and engaging.

No, I haven't read Cell yet. Is it good?

What started me on this whole reading thing again was his recent Lisey's Story. Read it over the holidays. Then I finally read the final book of the Dark Tower series...then I went back and reread about 5 books that related to that series. I've always been a voracious reader, till I went back to school. Nothing like being forced to read psych journals to kill your love of recreational reading. But now I'm back in the book groove. I've read about 10 or 12 books since just after Christmas.

Later NSW, enjoy your movie.

I cannot go to sleep without reading. I was thinking the other day that it if I did meet someone they would have to be a reader as well, just so that they won't be annoyed about the bedtime reading.

I'm exactly the same way. If I don't read before bed, I can't sleep. No matter what time I'm going to bed at, I always have to read first.

Cell is great- a nice little brain candy one.

I think I've read one dark tower one...couldn't get into it though. Maybe I'll try again :hmm:

Hi carlos

Snow will be in vegas in june

I'm not a King fan but I need to do some recreational reading. I also hate most of Oprahs books I've bought many and donated most. Poisonwood Bible is a glaring exception. I loved that book

I think apart from the vows bit it's just going to be a tour of the bars etc. I'm not a big gambler or anything, I just liek the vibe. I didn't make it downtown when I was there yrs ago, but we will probably be staying the Golden Nugget. What's that like?

That would be cool Kat, and you will already have met P by then

Their big fans of going to that one, so if I get a deal I'll stay there too. I stayed at Ballys last time which was alright, I just get to visit the hip places not stay in them it seems : pout:

Thanks!

Oooh, tats. Would it be your first one?

I want another tat so badly. Not sure if I'd get a shamrock, though. I already have my Irish-themed tat (heart suitcase, heh).

I might want to get a moon and a star one. :hmm:
