which do you prefer, and why?...

Slim Black Letter Jacket 50's Elvis...

or

Fat Scarf Vegas 70's Elvis.. ?

I have just one Elvis thing... a 4 CD Elvis Live in las Vegas box set... really great... and that's why I like 70's Elvis... because it was really a show to see him.. making jokes... starting songs out of nowhere... the cape... a consolidatred artist doing the best he could do (dispite his condition, which is not in my mind at the time I'm writing this).

Sure... the 68 comeback was great, but then he was famous.. in te 70's he was a real ICON for the whole world, and I don't think his leyend would be as powerfull as it is if he had died in 58 or prior to the 68 comeback...

I can't believe that it was 75 and he was playing as fastand with so much Soul as a 20 year old kid starting.. like he on Ed Sullivan (??). Try to go find Hound Dog or Suspicious Minds from those days.... mind blowers

besides... without Vegas Elvis, there wouldn't be Mr McPhisto

Jail House rock Elvis rocking it out in the Sun Studios gets my vote.....

seriously, what he became- a fat, paranoid, puppet of Colonel Parker wearing ridiculous outfits in the club/cabaret circuit, just does not compare to his very, very, very early career:|
