Question for those who got tickets through the best buy presale....Was it a smooth process or was it a nightmare?? Were there decent tickets/seats available or were they limited in selection? Was it worth it..?

I don't want to fork over 100 bucks for the fanclub membership on top of the ticket prices.. I just think that is insane..

Anyone having any luck with the fan club pre-sale for Boston, New York, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal?

I found the best buy pre-sale very easy compared to the U2 pre-sale.

I logged in when the pre-sale started, pasted in the code, selected floor and then....

Row 12 on the floor.

One of my friends checked much later in the day with a bestbuy code and got two sections from the stage about half way up.

I'm a happy camper

Your lucky you are a rewards member of Best Buy. The Police Fan Club people are complaining that they are only getting upper level seating. Sounds similar to the pre-sales for U2 in 2005. Will have to see what happens with the general on sale this weekend and next Tuesday. More dates and pre-sales will probably be announced in about two weeks.

A close friend of mine ponied up for the Fanclub. They got 4 tickets, andy's side in the stands, all within 25 rows away of the stage. They were all full price, they were 2 excellent single and a decent pair.

He said that Boston fanclub was sold out as was the 2nd MSG. He could also still pull up tickets for TO and montreal in the fanclub. Don't know the quality of ticket.

I think Im going to try todays msg presale and maybe pay the extra $50 per ticket if the seats are decent

I got side stage for that price providing ticketmaster didnt just screw my order up when I asked them to credit the $30 pkg charge they added

I assume that all tickets on the floor are $225? Is this right?

Anybody here know for a fact where the $90 seats are?

And no guesses please.

Can only speak for MSG - saw that $94 seats were at the far end of the 100s level, all of the 300s in front of stage (not sure about the far end though, those may be lower) and all the 200s in front of stage except for the 4 sections closest to the stage on each side (side stage secs were also $94). 207-210 and 220-223 were $254. Yes, the top end at MSG is $254 not $225. I have a Section 206 Row C for the Friday Aug. 3 show that is $94.

Let's see here...that's not bad I guess for $94...I just don't want upper balcony...at least the AAC in Dallas isn't this big

The famous gates at Lion's Gate Studios in the North Vancouver have been a busy gathering place ever since it was learned The Police were on the other side rehearsing for the reunion tour. In addition to papparazzi, who have been camping out hoping for photos, fans report hearing the band practicing some famous tunes including "Walking on the Moon" and "Message in a Bottle". Sting, Andy Summers and Stweart Copeland will perform together at next months Grammys, before any tour announcements are made.

ON THE TAIL OF THE POLICE
North Shore Studios may deny The Police are using its Studio 5 to rehearse for any upcoming Grammy performance, but the scene outside says otherwise.
Hovering around the entrance are two security guards and a large white truck flanked by a champagne-coloured SUV.
A source says Stewart Copeland arrives with his morning coffee close to 10am with the rock group beginning rehearsal a short while after. Reports have placed Sting strolling through Whistler Village.(world class ski resort located 2 hours from town)

Will this through April after the 3 week Lute tour that starts this weekend?

The original Police thread has disappeared. You can't even find it on other pages which is a bit of a mystery.

In any event, I thought I would put up some of the great youtube live performances again:

Unfortunately, viacom has taken down the Police performance on the German TV Program Musikladen that took place on January 18, 1979 , and was one of the best Police shows on youtube. Probably the best live version of So Lonely.

The show from February 21, 1979 at the Hatfield Polytechnics is still up. Great show as well, and while actually be broadcast on VH1 Classic tonight! This is the Outlandos D Amour tour and the band plays Message In A Bottle for the first time, several months before it was actually recorded. Great show!!!

Here is about half of a Police concert from the Regatta De Blanc tour. This show was in Hamburg Germany on January 11, 1980 , 3 months after the release of the Police's second album Regatta De Blanc. This was filmed for the German TV program, "Rockpalast".

Sting's voice is a bit hoarse for this show, and his bass almost goes out completely during Walking On The Moon, but it is a good show with the songs performed in slightly different ways than at other shows.

Here are 3 songs from a Police show in Frejus France on August 28, 1980. The Police had just finished recording Zenyatta Mondatta 3 weeks earlier and were already on tour for it, even though the album would not be released until the first week of October 1980. Some of the best live versions I have ever seen of the following songs:

Driven To Tears http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hn9a4BO2YOE
De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFUpl1NrHrE&mode=related&search=

The following is the entire Police show(minus When the World is Running..) in Essen Germany on October 18, 1980 at the Grugahalle. It was filmed for the German TV show Rockpalast. Its the Zenyatta Mondatta tour, with the album having been just released two weeks prior to this show.

The show does not have the best mix. You can hear Stewart just fine, but Andy's guitar is difficult to hear as well as Stings Bass.

The Police only played one show in Mexico while they were a band. Surprisingly, there are a few clips of this show on youtube. The Police played there on November 15, 1980 near the start of the Zenyatta Mondatta tour. They played the "Grand Ballroom" on the top floor of the "Hotel De Mexico" in Mexico City. Here is qoute from Andy Summers about this show:

Andy: "We played in a strange place. It was sort of in a new hotel and we played on the 20th floor. It was very expensive to get in. We played on a very sort of dangerous stage. It was falling apart as we played. Everyone went so crazy. We thought the whole stage would fall apart. It was good fun." ("Mexico FM"; 12-1990).

The following songs come from a show on the Zenyatta Mondatta Tour. Here are 7 songs from a show at the Budokan Hall in Tokyo Japan on February 2, 1981. This turned out to be the last Police show in Tokyo. But, the Police plan to play Japan at the end of 2007 or in early 2008 which should definitely see them playing Tokyo for the first time in nearly 27 years!!!

Here are 10 songs from the Police's first night in Vina Del Mar Chile on February 19, 1982. The Police played another show the following night. These are the only two shows The Police have played in Chile to date. The Police may be returning to Chile in late 2007 or early 2008! These particular shows on the Ghost In The Machine Tour took place at the "Quinta Vergara Anfiteatro" in Vina Del Mar, Chile.

This show is the Gateshead stadium show near Newcastle England on July 31, 1982 on the Ghost In The Machine Tour. U2 opened for The Police at this show. Bono came out and sang backing vocals on Invisible Sun.

These particular clips posted on youtube come from a mix of the show done in Japan in which the keyboard parts normaly in the background somehow got very high in the mix and unfortunately for some songs occasionally is louder than the band. Still, this is a really good show and 8 songs from it have been posted on youtube. The Japanese and Koran DVD is good, but if you can get the original that was broadcast in the United Kingdom, thats better because the keyboard mix problem is not there.

Fantastic versions of "Bring On The Night" and "Driven To Tears"!

On September 3, 1982 , The Police headlined the first night of the US Festival to 140,000 people. It was the largest crowd the Police have played to, to date. The show took place in San Bernardino California at the Glen Helen Regional Park. About half of the show is available on youtube. Here it is:

The following songs are from a Police show in Montreal on the Synchronicity tour. The show as on August 2, 1983 at a club called the Spectrum. It was the first Police club show in Canada since 1979 and took place the day before the Police played Montreal's OLYMPIC STADIUM or the "BIG O" as locals call it. Tickets to the club show were free and could only be obtained by identifying obscure snippets of songs on the radio. The band played a shorter show than normal, and it was filmed for international pay TV, as well as Showtime in the USA. Crowd footage from this club show is actually used in the Syncrhonicity Concert VHS/DVD which took place at Atlanta's Omni Arena.

The songs sound a little different from the Synchronicity Concert DVD which was filmed at the Omni Arena on November 2-3, 1983, about mid way through the tour. This show was on August 2, 1983 and the tour had just started on July 23, 1983 at Comiskey Park in Chicago. The tempo of some songs is a tad slower and the band sound a little "stiff" on some of them, normal with the start of a tour, but Sting's voice sounds a little better than on the show in Atlanta, and Andy Summers Guitar is higher in the mix. There are other small differences which many will notice as well. Its a great show with some fantastic footage of the band:

Catch The Police's classic 1979 performance on BBC's 'Rock Goes To College'

Don't miss the rescreenings of The Police's 1979 performance at Hatfield Polyechnic later this month when they are aired on VH1 Classic in the States.

The show is currently due for screening on February 15 (9pm ET), February 16 (12am ET) and February 18 (7pm ET).

The show was originally broadcast on the BBC's 'Rock Goes To College' show and includes the band's first live performance of 'Message In A Bottle'.

There is one mistake above with all the live youtube performances. "Spirits In The Material World" for the second night in Vina Del Mar Chile is actually linked to the Sting fan website message board, stingus.net where much much of these youtube performances had been posted as well.
