gy!be - rockets fall on rocket falls

beck - lost cause, guess im doin fine

radiohead - sail to the moon, how to disappear completely, like spinning plates, airbag (which is the most beautiful song in the world), fake plastic trees, motion picture soundtrack (particularly acoustic), nice dream, bulletproof, street spirit, exit music, the tourist, screw it you get the idea. radiohead is the greatest.

pink floyd - jugband blues, us and them, comfortably numb

u2 - love is blindness, trying to throw your arms around the world, all i want is you, one tree hill, until the end of the world (most moving song, although not necessarily the most beautiful), stay and the first time.

I saw you post this topic and thought, as always, choosing just one is waaaaaaaaaay

too hard.

I'll get back to you shortly...I think quite a few of mine have already been listed. But just one...? that would be a task.happy new year Michael Griffiths

Linger - The Cranberries
Alison - Elvis Costello
She - Elvis Costello
The Scientist - Coldplay
Imagine - John Lennon
Tomorrow - Bono/Adam Clayton version
Stay - U2
All I Want Is You - U2
The First Time - the most beautiful U2 song ever, IMO

Miss Sarajevo, as performed by Bono, Edge, Brian Eno and Pavarotti live at the Sarajevo concert. I remember watching it way back in 1995 and when Pavarotti started singing it just took an already impossibly beautiful song to this incredible place where I felt as if electric shock was running through my body.

I agree with the mentions of "One", "The First Time", "Bad", and "October" (I really like the piano in "October").

"In My Life" is pretty, too..

I also think "MLK" is a pretty song...has anyone here ever listened to this song while falling asleep? It's a very soothing lullaby.

Angela

Bono & MDH - Never Let Me Go
REM - I've Been High
Lamb - Gorecki
Radiohead - Bullet Proof

I'll second
hallelujah-Jeff buckely

oj I forgot..Neil Finn's "Lullabye requiem"

Beth Orton - Stars All Seem To Weep
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
Most of what the Verve did is fantastic, personal favourites are 'the drugs don't work' and 'on your own'.

"Winter" by Tori Amos is one of them...although it has suffered from overplay in my house.

Also Tori's covers of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". Hell, about 20 Tori Amos songs qualify!

I agree with those who said "Landslide"--still gets me every time.

Original studio recording of "Bad"

"Your Song" by Elton John

Current favorites I'm rediscovering: "Goodbye" by Steve Earle (Emmy Lou Harris version) and whoever said "Don't Dream It's Over"

Geesh, I don't know...one could go on forever with this.
