I was thinking just now about how amazing Kid A is. Then I listened to Amnesiac and thought about how great Amnesiac is. Then I though about the supposed double album that may have been born from the Kid A sessions. So, being the resourseful chap that I am, I ventured to guess what a double album using songs from Kid A and Amnesiac might have looked like.

So now may I present to you and grand epic, Hour and a half long Radiohead release that never was:

I like to call it In Limbo

1. Everything In Its Right Place
2. Like Spinning Plates
3. Treefingers
4. Optimistic
5. Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors
6. Kid A
7. I Might Be Wrong
8. Morning Bell
9. How To Disappear Completely
10. Hunting Bears
11. Packt Like Sardines In A Crushed Tin Box
12. You And Whose Army?
13. Life In a Glass House
14. Knives Out
15. In Limbo
16. Dollars And Cents
17. Ideotheque
18. The National Anthem
19. Pyramid Song
20. Motion Picture Soundtrack

I'm not saying this is how it should have been, or that I prefer a double album like that to the seperate releases of Kid A and Amnesiac. In fact I like things just the way they were. But this possible alternative isn't half bad either.

Throw Cuttooth on there, and even better, throw in Fog and Kinetic. I would, at the expense of Treefingers and Dollars & Cents.

The Amazing Sounds of Orgy would've been great too over Hunting Bears.

Not half bad at all, but the first three songs on Kid A should never be split up. They belong together. God told me so.

Thanks U2Man  Now how about someone sends me the rest of the b-sides from this era? :hyper:

I always felt the albums could have been combined to make one really good 12 song album instead.

That's probably true. Both are excellent in their own right, but conflating them wholesale would have diluted the originality of many of the tracks. For instance, Kid A and Revolving Doors are very clearly meant to be counterparts, as are Optimistic and I Might Be Wrong, Treefingers and Hunting Bears, and How to Disappear Completely and Pyramid Song. Or at least they appear to be so in my mind.

Hmm i thought the idea of this double album was to make one album out of the two. What you did was throw away morningbell/amnesiac and jumbled up the order of the other songs. Not to be overly critical, but I thought the idea was to pick and choose which songs would make a true "single album" composed of kid a, and amnesiac.

I can't just throw that out there, and not give my own suggestion so heres what I think it should be

1. Everything is in Its Right place
2. Morning Bell
3. You and Whose Army?
4. Kid A
5. How to Disappear Completely
6. I Might Be Wrong
7. Like Spinning Plates
8. Idioteque
9. Knives Out
10.Life in a Glass House
11. Pyramid Song
12. Motion Picture Soundtrack (cut out the silence at the end)
13. Fog

I could live without Optimistic as a song on it's own, but it flows into In Limbo so gorgeously that it cannot be excluded from an album...

Optimistic owns you sucka

Btw, Optimistic and In Limbo should never be separated!

neither should Idioteque and morning bell:tsk:

or everything in its right place-- > Kid a --> The national anthem

Kid A is too good to mess with in any way, even if Amnesiac is too patchy to do anything but mess with. Only Packt... and Pyramid Song would make it on to a 12-track Kid A if someone put a gun to my head and made me expand it. (10 tracks is a nice, concise album length).

Here's a little mix I made:

1. Fog
2. National Anthem
3. I Might Be Wrong
4. Treefingers
5. Everything In Its Right Place
6. Kid A
7. Packt Like Sardines In A Crushed Tin Box
8. Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors
9. Knives Out
10. Pyramid Song
11. You And Whose Army?
12. Idiotheque
13. Morning Bell
14. Like Spinning Plates
15. Hunting Bears
16. Optimistic
17. In Limbo
18. Dollars & Cents
19. How To Dissapear Completely
20. Life In A Glass House
21. Motion Picture Soundtrack

"Fog" suprisingly starts out the album very well. I made sure all the songs that normally fade into each other still do in this mix. Try it out.

That's right! This is what I would do for now... a double album with very few changes to the original albums!

Yesterday I Woke Up Sucking A Lemon - Radiohead

Disc 1 - Kid A
1. Everything In Its Right Place
2. Kid A
3. The National Anthem
4. How To Disappear Completely
5. Treefingers
6. Optimistic
7. In Limbo
8. Idioteque
9. Morning Bell
10. Motion Picture Soundtrack

Disc 2 - Amnesiac
1. Packt like sardines in a crushd tin box
2. Pyramid song
3. Pulk/pull revolving doors
4. You and whose army?
5. I might be wrong
6. Knives out
7. Cuttooth
8. Dollars & cents
9. Hunting bears
10. Like spinning plates (more like the live piano version)
11. Life in a glass house
