Ok, so below is a list of acts confirmed for the 2006 Lollapalooza fest. I would like to see what people consider the best albums by each artist (of course, if they only have one...). So go down the list and put your favorite album by each artist. If you don't like an artist, just write "Shit" and move on. Happy scribing...

Red Hots--The consensus would be Blood Sugar Sex Magik, but personally I've always preferred its predecessor Mother's Milk. A bit harder.
__________________Flaming Lips--Have to go with The Soft Bulletin. An all-time classic album. Sonic Youth--Don't listen to anyone who says Dirty. It's Daydream Nation, no contest. Sleater-Kinney--I thought The Woods was last year's best album, but you could take One Beat as well, which is closer to the S-K "classic" sound. Thievery Corporation--Would have to say The Mirror Conspiracy, but they're all pretty damned great and will give you a good primer for checking them out. Ween--Tough call. My first instinct is to say Pure Guava, but the double live album Paining the Town Brown might be a good choice. Wilco--I'm one of the few who won't say Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and suggest another double album, Being There. VERY little filler. Death Cab For Cutie--my housemate is a huge fan and he swears by We Have The Facts and We're Voting Yes. Common--Like Water For Chocolate. Pre-hippie Common. Amazing album. |

Re: The Essential Lollapalooza Albums Thread
The Red Hot Chili Peppers - money's on BSSM, but I'd go with Californication still
Kanye West - I definitely think Late Registration was better than College Dropout Wilco - take both Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and Being There, I can't get it down to one the Shins - oh, inverted world Death Cab For Cutie - tough one, but I'd say The Photo Album the Raconteurs - only one record Flaming Lips - gotta agree with Soft Bulletin Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People (thanks lmj ![]() Secret Machines - STILL haven't listened to new record, but you can't beat Now Here Is Nowhere Stars - maybe I'm in the minority, but I prefer Set Yourself On Fire to Heart Iron & Wine - definitely Our Endless Numbered Day, but don't forget the Woman King EP |
