Goddamn it! Time for the fucking Mariners to fire John "the Asshole who takes out his ace-throwin-a-97-pitch-8-inning-shutout" McDouchebag. Seriously? Who the fuck takes out their ace throwing a shutout when their closer is on the DL? He WANTS to lose.

To be fair, I think pulling Felix in an early-season ballgame is justifiable because of his history of injury.

But yeah, that Seattle bullpen does blow right now.

Seattle bullpen: 13 runs in 14.2 innings. :barf:

Felix Hernandez got injured last season not because of pitch counts--it was because he was holding the ball incorrectly on his curveball, and that was stressing his elbow. One injury, which has been fixed. At the rate Hernandez was going, he'd have thrown less than 110 pitches.

Didn't he also have problems with his shoulder a couple years ago?

Not that I've ever been aware of (and I keep track of the Mariners very closely). I know two years ago (the 2006 season) he had problems with being out of shape/obescity. But he's taken to working out in the off-season.

johan probably thought he was back in minnesota today... 7 innings, 1 run allowed, loss

Not as bad as Felix. :| 8 shutout innings. No decision. Team loses.

Ben Sheets--complete game shutout:dance:

Seriously, everyone in the NL should be salivating when looking at the days on the calendar they play the Giants.

Last year's Twins had more offense than what the Mets showed today

Not that anybody here cares about the Reds, but Edwin Encarnacion is sooo not clutch.

There is more to the story too....Schmeg and I were watching the game. Encarnacion earlier had an opportunity to prevent a run with a simple throw to home. He threw it away and allowed all of the runners to advance. The announcers were dogging him the whole game. GREAT piece of irony.

This afternoon, I went to the first of about 11 Reds home games (I live in a city without MLB). Looking forward to Sundays in Cincy.

i know it's early and all but, yea... the tigers kinda blow.

who woulda thunk that putting together a bunch of homerun hitters with no pitching wouldn't work.

Watching this game, I agree wholeheartedly.

The Tigers might kinda blow, but they also had the misfortune of running into a fucking buzzsaw known as the 2008 Chicago White Sox.

haven't we learned anything from the yankees that paying a lot of money for all star hitters and ignoring your pitching isn't a good idea?

Tigers did it first. Remember that early 90s team with Cecil Fielder, Rob Deer, Mickey Tettleton, and Travis Fryman? With no pitching besides an aging Frank Tanana?

Well, I know Rob Deer was not. Oh yeah, and neither was Pete Imbruglia (who I forgot). Cecil Fielder was Japanese-grown. But yeah, Mickey Tettleton and Travis Fryman were home-grown.

Pete Imbruglia...Natalie's father?
Any relation to Pete Incaviglia?

And Cecil doesn't look terribly Japanese. He played with the Blue Jays before a couple of seasons in Japan, then returned to Motown.

I thought Tettleton came up with somebody else (A's maybe? I'm too lazy to look it up). They did have Trammell and Whitaker still, and they were home grown.

Those Tigers teams may have sucked d/t no pitching but they sure were fun to watch...

Anybody want a free Eric O'Flaherty? He's the shittiest reliever in baseball, but hey, John McClaren brings him in to blow every Mariners game, so he must have a winning personality!

gotta love a lefty specialist whom lefties are hitting 7 or 11 off of.

The best part? He got the fucking righty out. :|

Damn, you got me. And as for Cecil Fielder, he sucked before going to Japan, so technically, as a player he was grown in Japan.
