I forgot about those two! I think Tears in Heaven is so sad because you know what it's about...and Everybody Hurts. That song has gotten me through some very difficult phases.

Yeah, the story behind "Tears In Heaven" is so heartbreaking.

Seriously, every time I see the clips of Eric performing that song on that MTV Unplugged show on T.V., I just feel so bad for him, I want to jump through the screen and give him a hug or something.

How he can sing that song without crying is beyond me.

I think another reason that song is so sad is because there's one part in there where he's talking about how he can't stay in heaven-it's like, he can visit, but he can't stay, he has to say the final goodbye to his kid...and I sit there and hear that and I'm thinking, geez...talk about pain...

I'm getting choked up just thinking about it....

The nice thing, though-while that song was written for his son, it can apply to anyone who's lost someone they love out there.

And "Everybody Hurts"...yeah, that song is definitely one that will help people-it's very reassuring to know that you're not alone, that other people have problems and cry and feel pain, too.

Which is why that song's one that I see people crying at more in relief than in sadness, just because of that fact.

not exactly makes me cry..but brings quite close..

in no particular order except the 1st 2

1) Everybody Hurts - rem

2) True love waits - radiohead

3) One Tree Hill - u2

4) Hey You - floyd

5) enjoy the silence - depeche mode

6) all out of love - air supply

7) love will - joy division

8) bad - u2

9) coming back to life - floyd

10) exit music - radiohead

Rocket Man - Elton John
Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel) - Billy Joel
Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carlise
Love Me Tender - Elvis (this song is my grandparents' song... they sing it to each other all the time... it's so cute and moving... )

And pretty much any song can make me cry if I'm in the right mood lol

Eve - Chantal Kreviazuk
Thief - OLP

Great songs. Chantal's Surrounded is also pretty emotional.

For me:

U2 - Walk On, One, Kite
OLP - Are You Sad?
Chantal Kreviazuk - Surrounded
John Lennon - Beautiful Boy, Grow Old With Me

Speaking of Don Henley, one other song by him that's sad is the one called "The End of the Innocence"-there's that one line that goes, "Let me take a long, last look before we say goodbye"-that's just...:(...

And another song that's also sad-"The Living Years" by Mike and the Mechanics.

I like both of those songs quite a bit. I was actually thinking of "Living Years" but couldnt think of whose song it was.

Boys of Summer is another great Henley song, but that's not too sad.

I really like that song too... it's nostalgic I guess.
