Who knew Northland was that dangerous to your health!

Also, just a little envious of that jaunt. I've made it as far as the Karikari Peninsula, north of Kaitaia, but never all the way to Cape Reinga. Not sure when I'll get around to it either, since I've done most of the rest of that region. My priorities for New Zealand travel now largely lie elsewhere.

As to say it was my first trip past Omaha! Wish we could have spent longer, but we're planning something longer later. This trip was fun for the travel but we don't get a lot of time together so it's good to get the time in a car.

My mom's iron level is so low that she's wondering why she's alive

oh man, i think i've used chicago once. when i took english 101 back in my first semester of undergrad, they had us write a research paper using each citation format. it sounds ridiculous, but in retrospect, it was good because it helped me learn how to use each one, even though everyone just wants apa or mla. plus, this was back in the dark ages before there were 100 reference sites that showed you how to do it. i had to buy a textbook for it.

i can only really use footnotes sparingly, and in my case it's really to provide further information about the translation, so using it to reference isn't an option. i don't think any teacher has ever let me use footnotes to reference.

Not using footnotes is basically saying "we don't want you to use primary sources or do archival research".

ugh, me too. and in my huge postwhore jaunt i forget what all i said about referencing, but we'd been using mla in this entire programme up until now, and now in this class everyone's saying they don't get why we suddenly have to use apa. i know why, the advisor who took over the capstone is a fucking pill and probably prefers it, even though it's probably the department's preference to use mla. i cannot wait until i'm done with this semester.

One place I definitely recommend is Waimamaku Beach, one of the most wonderfully wild ocean beaches I've been to. It's between the Hokianga and the forest that Tane Mahuta's in.

I have to use APA because I'm a Health Science major, and science papers are stupid.

But speaking of health and emergency surgeries. I've somehow managed to make it to my 30s without having had any surgeries other than dental procedures. This may be because I've been uninsured most of my life and didn't start seeing s doctor regularly until last year.

Of course, now that I am in my 30s, my body is probably going to rapidly decline.

Yeah, when I had my colon taken out around two years ago I had a complication and had to have emergency surgery two weeks after. It was very rough and I missed three weeks of school, but things went up from there. Hopefully things for you will go up

I've been discharged already - on Friday!!! But no apparently I urgently needed to return.

Didn't stop me comfortably getting around on foot up hills and into caves.

They know best (I guess even above my regular doc) but still....

Better safe than sorry, you shouldn't take risks with your health

I can only use Illustrator and I'm very bad at it even then.

I stay out of the photoshop/meme game because I amuse two people.

Also, my new bluetooth speaker is impressive. It's a floating death star and the audio may almost be better than my wired speakers.

So, Wollongong has been nice to me these last two days and I have my own office, so I'm happy.

Off to Europe now. Prepare for more of Axver's Pithy Observations About Places.

I did one with Larry not on board as well. I think it was in the Kendrick Lamar thread.
