I have noticed this past week that soulseek and it's website have been down for me and my brother...I'm wondering if it has been permanently shut down or not?

here you go. take ntoe it didn't work for me, but it's the easiest way apparently. big ups, as ali g would say, to my man u2popmofo.

-Find your hosts file,
in Windows XP it is C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
in Windows 2000 it is C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
I'm not sure what it is in 98/ME/95.

Now open the file with Notepad.
Add these four lines to the very bottom of the file:

38.115.131.131 sk2.slsk.org
38.115.131.131 www.slsk.org
38.115.131.131 mail.slsk.org
38.115.131.131 server.slsk.org

I did this, and was immediately able to go on Soulseek again.

This link will provide more info if you need it.

i had to do the same thing for 98, only my drivers file wasn't where it was supposed to be and i had to look for it, and then set things so i could change the extenstions, cos drivers wasn't supposed to have a file extension (thanks mofo for the help with that)

ok, people what is soulseek?
is it file sharing?
is it complicated?
is it worthwhile?
can my dinosaur Win98 comp cope with it?
can someone as technically challenged as me use it ok?

curious now..

it installed in about 30 seconds....it looks like its done right too. are you in there somewhere?
i cant find anything!
my username is angelaharlem....isd it normal to not register a username? i just wrote one and typed in a made up password...
