OK I was going to list mine, but then you brought up THAT song.. so here is my only response at the mo: :drool: :combust:

Right now mine's

English Girls Approximately:

The lines;

Said you didn't love me, it was right on time, I was just about to tell you, but OK, alright

Said you didn't love me, didn't want a thing, English girls can be so mean

I can really relate.

This is the part that kills me:

Just three words, my love...
You meant everything

And "Indifference" by Pearl Jam is a little that way, too.

Excellent choice, I haven't listened to that in ages.

The whole lyric is amazing but these are my favorite lines...

"i'll swallow poison, until i grow immune
i will scream my lungs out till it fills this room"

"Dry Your Eyes" by The Streets. This song is from A Grand Don't Come For Free, which came out this year. Another great one is "If You See Her, Say Hello" by Bob Dylan; that song is...painful and then some. Anyway...The Streets:

In one single moment, your while life can turn 'round.
I stand there for a minute, starin' straight into the ground--
Lookin' to the left slightly, then lookin' back down.
World feels like it's caved in--proper, sorry frown.
"Please let me show you where we could only just be, for us.
I can change and I can grow or we could adjust.
The wicked thing about us is we always have trust;
We can even have an open relationship, if you must."
I look at her--she stares almost straight back at me,
But her eyes glaze over like she's lookin' straight through me.
Then her eyes must have closed for what seems an eternity--
When they open up she's lookin down at her feet.

Dry your eyes, mate.
I know it's hard to take, but her mind has been made up;
There's plenty more fish in the sea.
Dry your eyes, mate.
I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts,
But you've got to walk away, now...
It's over.

So then I move my hand up from down by my side;
It's shakin', my life is crashin' before my eyes.
Turn the palm of my hand up to face the skies,
Touch the bottom of her chin and let out a sigh:
"Cuz I can't imagine my life without you and me--
There's things I can't imagine doin', things I can't imagine seein'.
It weren't supposed to be easy, surely.
Please, please...I'm beggin' you....please."
She brings her hands up towards where my hands rested,
She wraps her fingers 'round mine with that softness she's blessed with,
She peels away my fingers, looks at me and then gestures
By pushin' my hand away to my chest, from hers...

Dry your eyes, mate.
I know it's hard to take, but her mind has been made up;
There's plenty more fish in the sea.
Dry your eyes, mate.
I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts,
But you've got to walk away, now...
It's over.

And I'm just standin' there. I can't say a word,
Cuz everything's just gone.
I've got nothin'...absolutely nothin'.

I'm tryin' to pull her close out of bare desperation.
Put my arms around her tryin' to change what she's sayin',
Pull my head level with hers so she might engage in,
Look into her eyes to make her listen again:
"I'm not gonna' fuckin'...just fuckin' leave it all now,
Cuz you said it'd be forever and that was your vow.
And now you're gonna' let our things simply crash and fall down...?
You're well out of order now--this is well out of town."
She pulls away, my arms are tightly clamped 'round her waist,
Gently pushes me back and then looks at me straight.
She turns around so she's now got her back to my face,
Takes one step forwards, looks back, and then walks away.

Dry your eyes, mate.
I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up;
There's plenty more fish in the sea.
Dry your eyes, mate.
I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts,
But you're got to walk away now...
It's over.

I know in the past I've found it hard to say--
Tellin' you things but not tellin' straight.
But the more I pull on your hand and say,
The more you pull away.

Dry your eyes, mate.
I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up;
There's plenty more fish in the sea.
Dry your eyes, mate.
I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts,
But you've got to walk away, now...

Man--this song is a real kick in the pants. I will remember for the rest of my life the first time I heard it; it killed me over and over again, it hurt so bad...

Cheers Darlin' by Damien Rice

cheers darlin'
here's to you and your lover boy
cheers darlin'
i got years to wait around for you
cheers darlin'
i’ve got your wedding bells in my ear
cheers darlin'
you give me three cigarettes to smoke my tears away
and i die when you mention his name
and i lie i should have kissed you
when we were running in the rain
what am i darlin'?
a whisper in your ear?
a piece of your cake?
what am i darlin?
the boy you can fear?
or your biggest mistake?
cheers darlin'
here's to you and your lover man
cheers darlin'
i’ll just hang around and eat from a can
cheers darlin'
i got a ribbon of green on my guitar
cheers darlin'
i got a beauty queen
to sit not very far from me
i die when he comes around to take you home
i'm too shy I should have kissed you
when we were alone
what am I darlin'?
a whisper in your ear?
a piece of your cake?
what am I darlin?
the boy you can fear?
or your biggest mistake?
what am i?
here’s to you and your lover
what am i darlin’?
i got years to wait around for you…

"Lover, You Should've Come Over" by Jeff Buckley, too.

Jeff also did an awesome cover of "If You See Her, Say Hello."

At first I thought this tread wanted songs that hurt like hell, but then I realized that it implys "emotional" songs. gotcha ;) Well in that case, "Rocket Man" by Elton John. I have no fucking clue why, but for some reason that song really choaks me up. :shrug:

well after thinking about this:

Damien Rice - most things
Neil Finn's output
Beth Orton - 'I Wish I Never Saw The Sunshine'

and

Johnny Cash covering 'Hurt', because I never cry when I listen to music, but I cried at that one.

4th of July. I think it's a beautiful song, but it just makes me want to slit my wrists when I'm driving home at night in the rain...:(

Don't worry, just a way to describe the feeling...:wink:

And then it goes into Bad...geez... gets me everytime:sad:
