well, i am going to college in the fall, and thusly i am getting vaccinations and tests left and right. one of the tests was for tuberculosis. so to that i was all "no way is that necessary, i mean, i'm an american...do we even have that here anymore?". oh, but apparently we do.

and of course, i went this morning to get my test read, and o yes, i "possibly" have it. so i have to go to a pulmonary specialist and get all sorts of tests run now.

so if i have it i go on meds that "may" deteriorate my liver (read: my drinking capacity would be forever lowered). oh yeah, and uhh it will kill me.

 to that.

:( I'm sorry. :(
(((((((((hug))))))))))))
But the word 'possibly' means that maybe you won't get it. *tries to consolate, but sees that this didn't work*

I'm sorry Lilly.. I'm sure you're not going to die though.

* hugs *

you may have a fatal disease and you're worried you can't get drunk?

good luck though...i hope you don't have it. it does piss me off though when doctors worry people to death with "maybe" or "possibly" when it's highly unlikely the patient doesn't have whatever the doctor thinks they do.

damn doctoral bastards

well, i will die some time, no doubt not from this. i'm just pissed at the ambiguity of the whole situation, like say yes or no if i've got it and yes or no if you can do something about it. none of this "maybe" "possibly" bullshit.

khandaha...i am trying to make it a bit lighter for myself to take. yes, i understand the consequences, but a bit of morbid humor never hurt anyone.

thanks for the hugs.

I've only knew one person who ever had TB...uhm...nevermind...but that was something like 20 years ago

I'm sure everything will be fine.

That's a total bitch, Lilly...no other way to really describe it.

I hope everything works out all right for you. *hug*

Oh yes, Ive dealt with DRs and their "maybes" before!!!
Lately, its been "could be's" .
You listen to them, you do your own research, it scares the h*** outta you, and you realize you could even die from this. The thought that what I have could kill me terrifies me everyday... :(
Like the others say though, I'm sure you'll be okay. Just make sure you've got healthcare, and try to find another DR if the care youre getting isnt good enough. Never settle for less. I wish I didnt have to! :slant:

TB won't kill you if you detect it early and take the medicine. I have to get a TB test every few years as a condition of employment. A friend of mine had TB when she was a child, and she's just fine with four extremely healthy children. Don't be scared, Lilly. TB kills people who don't have access to health care, or who don't follow through with their meds.

You'll be fine.

:( Sorry

I'm sure you'll be fine.

THAT WAS WHAT SATINE HAD

but that was many moons ago....times have changed.

i remember , one day , doctor called me and said that there some chances of AIDS virus in my blood or something like it , i freaked out , almost commited suicide and wrote a last letter , and can you imagine , the next day ****er calls me and says that they were mistaken ,assistant misplaced the names on tubes with test blood ....

(((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))

walk On , if you want e-mail me , so we can talk about this

My father had TB when he was a kid. This is probably like 1954 or something, i think a lot of people had it at the time. He had to be hospitalized for a year at a hospital just for TB patients , he missed a whole year of school and the disease started going to his eye. He was cured, he does have slight vision impairment in one eye, but it doesn't affect him. Anyway, the point is I'm sure they have better meds available now and you will be fine, if you even have it at all. Think positive.

Lilly dear

I used to get those tests all of the time in the army, but the last tme I got a test my arm puffed up and looked "suspicious" so i went and got another test to which turned up negative.

I think you will be fine sweetie, just be careful and have faith and I will add you to my big prayer list, though you will be fine anyway with your great spirit and wonderful personality

cheer up

*superhugs*

twin, you'll be fine.....they have to warn you about the meds, but if they were dangerous then they couldn't give 'em out...don't worry, cause no matter what, i'll still share a room with you at the convention :sexywink:

*hugs*
