I had a listen and while the song is quite pretty to me it sounds a bit generic and same-oldish.

The song is about whatever fits your own personal framework of what you get out of it. The singer's own interpretation is not always what you think it's about or want it to be about.

man, do I ever hate the way he says "here" and "anywhere"

good song, though it's too long and repeats the chorus one too many times.

Diamond is ridiculously over-praising it

Owns anything (except "Don't Panic") by Coldplay.. not as good as streets though. They got a good sound goin on this one.
