I personally freaked out when 40ft Boner reached out for me. I mean, it was like he was inches from my face, that's just off putting.

Axver went to see that film more than anyone else I know, and he doesn't even like Shuttlecock. Huh.

Anyway, it certainly wasn't a family movie.

Is there going to be anything on this album as moving as Sometimes You Can't Serve It On Your Own, Boner's tribute to his deceased father, who was an amateur tennis player, and used to mime playing with a spatula at home?

Probably not.

Sometimes You Can't Serve It On Your Own

Nerve, you think you've got the serve

You're telling me and anyone

It's got a curve

You don't have to put up a net

Sometimes we'll settle for a let

Let me take some of the returns

See what I get

Backhand to me now

I play to let you know

You don't have to smash it alone

And it's you when I look on the court

And it's you when I don't pick up the racket

Sometimes you can't serve it on your own

We volley all the time

You and I...doubles night

We're on the same side

I don't need...I don't need to hear you say

That if we didn't serve alike

You'd like me a whole lot more

Backhand to me now

I play to let you know

You don't have to smash it alone

And it's you when I look on the court

And it's you when I don't pick up the racquet

Sometimes you can't serve it on your own

I know that we don't practice

I'm shit on the block

Can - you - see - me - when - I -

SERVE, you're the reason I serve

You're the reason why the badminton is in me...

Where to play now?

I've got to let you know

A court still doesn't make a home

Don't double fault alone...

And it's you when I look on the court

And it's you that makes it hard to return

Sometimes you can't serve it on your own

Sometimes you can't serve it

The best you can do is to swerve it

Sometimes you can't serve it on your own

Laz, I can see that you have the true spirit of Shuttlecock inside of you.

I listened to Tennis (Whatever Happened to Shuttlecock?) this morning, and my interest could not be higher. Shuttlecock for life.

Elfa, it does sound legit, but at the same time it's kinda disappointing to me as it sounds completely by the numbers...

What to think.

So we're [SPECULATION]ing that the track in question is No Net On The Horizon, yes? It doesn't sound like something from Get On Your Shuttlecocks or Breathe In My Shuttlecock.

Are people still so divisive over Miracle Cock? Some think it's a great Shuttlecock anthem, others think it's derivative and too sentimental.

Regardless, I think the lyric is great, and I love the part where The Hedge comes in and sings a section.

Miracle Cock

I want a court inside your head
Play the game there...
To hear the scores you haven't said
And return what you might serve

I wanna block you when you smash
Does this look like a rash?
I wanna see your birds take shape
And drop right in

Shuttlecock has a scent
Like the top of a newborn goose's head

The serves are in your eyes
I hit them when you smile
I've played enough I'm not giving up
On a miracle cock

Of badminton and the human arm
There is no limit
There is no fault here, babyarm
Just when you quit...

I play you and you play Chet
Shuttle makes no sense of space
The line...will disappear
Wind and power puts it there
Deception is on our side, love...

The serves are in your eyes
I hit them when you smile
I've had enough of backhanded love
I'd give it up, yeah, I'd give it up
For a miracle, a miracle cock, a miracle cock

Cock I need your help tonight

Beneath the stands
Below the net
I hear your voice
It's full of sweat
In tennis and in badminton
"I needed a partner
You took me in"

The serves are in your eyes
I hit them when you smile
I've had enough of backhanded love
Yeah, I'd give it up, yeah, I'd give it up
For a miracle, miracle cock

Miracle, miracle cock

In all honesty, I have mild hopes for Shuttlecock here. I certainly think it'll be better than the last two efforts.
