Thanks for the pic, Mrs S. I just love Sheryl and have all the more respect for her now fighting this demon.

Sending good vibes her way........

I've always been terrified of breast cancer because one of my aunts, a blood relative, had it in her 20s. Another one of my aunts had it a few years ago, it was pretty bad, but she's such a strong person she barely missed a day of work (she's a dance professor at my school) and she even teamed up with a senior engineering project group and invented a new medical device for breast cancer survivors! It's this sleeve thing and I think it helps with circulation in the lymph system because a lot of women have ongoing problems with their lymph system after breast cancer. Here's an article about it: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medi...hp?newsid=8847

Great to hear that Sheryl's prognosis is good.

Give your aunt a big hug, LivLuv! This invention is absolutely astonishing! It amazes me how people invent things, but this is really an extraordinary item. I hope not only that the invention brings notoriety and respect throughout the medical industry, but a warming peace of mind and heart, that this invention will save many women as well as bring much relief to even more. Double kudos for invention by a woman FOR women! I it!!

As for Sheyl, I feel she will make it through this. She's got great doctors and medical attention thanks to Lance Armstrong, as well as a large family and support system and her love of music to help her through. I caught a late night Larry King a few weeks ago where the topic was Sheryl's breast cancer announcement and Lance was interviewed along with others from Sheryl's life and Lance was so sweet, so positive and it really was endearing to hear him talk of his plight, fight and survival and how strongly he feels, "without a doubt in his mind" as a direct quote, that Sheryl will come through this with flying colors, because she is a fighter just like he is/was.

Thanks. I'm so proud of my aunt. She wears her special sleeve all the time now, it really does work! Before she invented it, she had to do a bandage routine and my uncle had to learn how to give her a special massage every day.

She's never one to sit still and let something just happen to her. She also very creative, crafty, and inventive - she has all the talents and I have none! Also, she has some very wealthy relatives on her side, including a sister who also had breast cancer and this sister paid to fly my aunt to specialists in New York. I think my aunt feels that since she had that opportunity, she'd better make the best of it and help someone else like she was helped. Like my mom always says, "Necessity is the mother of invention."

Awwwwww I love this story. That is scary though sisters both having bouts with breast cancer. That would scare me if it were in my family. Your aunt is one very special lady for her ingenuity and inventiveness, for her fight but especially for helping others. She is indeed very lucky!

LivLuv, you definitely should be proud of your aunt, yeah-that's incredibly cool. Good for her for coming up with such a neat idea . The more help that can come with fighting this disease, the better.

for any woman who's had to deal with breast cancer or knows someone who's experienced it. I can't even begin to imagine how frightening it would be to deal with, so much respect for people who do everything possible to battle it. And I've still got my fingers crossed for Sheryl.

Yes, it's scary. Luckily for me though, she's not a "blood" aunt, my mom's oldest brother's wife. Scary for my cousin though!
