Just finished listening to it...God, that makes ya cringe...he even said, "It's broke," right after it happened.

Lots of people get dire diagnoses from doctors. They don't always pan out. A lot depends on the patient's willingness to heal his own body. If the patient gives up, then so does the body. My baby was told he'd be disabled the rest of his life. He's not. He has back pain, but he's not crippled. He used to work with a guy who believed 100% in the arthritis and disablity diagnosis he was given, and that guy was sore, crippled, and a victim of his pain his whole miserable life.

Tell our Ryan to listen to the doctors when it comes to how to heal himself, but don't get caught up in the forecasts of misery and disability.

 Ryan

I had an eye doctor tell me once that since my mother has glaucoma there is a 100% chance that I'll get it, too. I told him he wasn't the doctor for me and got up and left. Several eye doctors since then were horrified by that ignorance.

I also had a doctor tell me there was nothing I can do about my osteoarthritis, that 'everyone over 35 gets it.' I have simply cut back on nightshade vegetables and added a few enzymes and supplements to my diet and it is gone.

"i do love music so much. its a crazy thing to have that be in jeapordy right now but even if my hand is fucked forever i can be proud because i feel like i have been true to myself even if that means i have walked the line or have disappointed people.
i was taught that people should be rewarded for being different and honest and i guess ive tried to stay true to that. anyway most of all ill miss playing drums for jesse. fuck that was fun."

RYAN ADAMS could lose 20 per cent of the movement in his wrist following a horrific fall in LIVERPOOL that has forced the cancellation of his NME AWARDS SHOW next month.

On Sunday (January 25) Adams called NME.COM to give his only interview about the accident, which happened at the Liverpool Royal Court (January 22). Adams fell six feet into the orchestra pit and fractured his left wrist during ?Shadowlands?. His leg is also injured and his microphone smashed his lip as he fell.

He told NME.COM: "I heard the noise but I didn?t feel the pain. The sound of my wrist breaking off my arm was really loud. It popped. People heard it. I think you could hear the break. I remember thinking ?OK, my neck is fine?, then making sure my back was OK. Then people came to help me. Then I looked at my arm and went ?Oh shit!? To begin with I thought it was just swollen but after a first glance I knew exactly what had happened. I was thinking ?This is it, it?s fucked?."

By the time the medics arrived, Adams was close to passing out. He continued: "By the time I walked off and saw it, it was so fucking heinous. These ER people had to cut off all my bracelets. When they were cutting them off my 1974 tattoo, blood was coming out of my skin even though there was no cut. It was trickling through my pores. That was when I almost fainted. Some people couldn?t look at it. "

The star was rushed to the Royal Liverpool Hospital for treatment. He was kept in overnight and then made a trip to London to see a specialist on Friday (January 23) where the decision was made to fly back to New York to recover. The initial diagnosis is that it could take two months to set the bone, and Adams could lose some of the mobility in his wrist.

Adams continued: "They said it?ll take at least six weeks or two months. That?s for the bones to take. They might have to wire it together with metal wires. The guess now is that I could lose up to 20 per cent of the mobility in my wrist. That?s the percentage I won?t be able to bend it any more. My fingers and hand will be fine but I?ll have to re-train my wrist. We?ll see about guitar but it might make me a great piano player! I have a feeling I?ll be able to pull through. It?s all about making sure I can get my wrist about a guitar."

While at home the singer is will see a specialist. It?s probable that Adams will have to go through a period of intense physio. As a result, shows in mainland Europe, including his hugely anticipate NME Awards Show at Brixton Academy (February 11) have been pulled. It?s likely it will be rescheduled for a later date.

Dear God. Makes me want to pass out just reading about it. Best wishes to him in the months to come.

I'm really annoyed by the fans who are pissed at Ryan because of the cancelled shows. WTF??? Yeah, I'm sure this is EXACTLY what Ryan wanted to do. I think he has bigger problems than a fan who misses a gig does...

I second that!

BTW thank you Bonochick for putting the idea of Ryan Adams into my head...I now have Rock n roll and the two love is hell ep's and I love them! Thanks!

VERY glad to hear that, Edgeman!!!!! :)

Also...the U.S. dates are cancelled too now. I had a feeling that was going to happen, but now it is official. :( I sure hope he is going to be okay.

RYAN ADAMS SPRING TOUR CANCELLED DUE TO WRIST INJURY

SURGERY TO KEEP ADAMS OUT OF COMMISSION INDEFINITELY

Nashville, TN - Lost Highway recording artist, Ryan Adams will undergo surgery during the week of February 1 to repair a broken left wrist. Adams's recently announced March tour dates will be cancelled while he recovers and completes physical therapy.

Adams broke his wrist during a show in Liverpool, England on January 22. About 90 minutes into the set, Adams was singing his song "Shadowlands" to the enthusiastic crowd from the edge of the stage. Adams took a step forward, and fell. The singer finished the song, but had to cancel the remainder of the show.
Adams was to headline the tour in support of his critically acclaimed CD Rock N Roll (released November 4), as well as his two EPs, Love Is Hell Part 1 and Love Is Hell Part 2. While Rock N Roll continues to heighten Adams' reputation as one of today’s most prolific songwriters, it is also his first release on which he played all of the guitars and many of the other instruments. Rock N Roll features the single "So Alive", which Adams recently performed on The Late Show with David Letterman. The video for "So Alive" recently became one of M2's Handpicked videos.

Sad news, BC, especially since I was thinking of catching him when he came to OKC. I'm kinda surprised it took them so long to officially call off the US dates. And yes, anyone who complains about him cancelling the tour needs to get their head checked.

 Ryan

RYAN ADAMS WRIST SURGERY 'SUCCESSFUL'

The surgery on RYAN ADAMS? broken left wrist has been "successful", according to doctors.

As previously reported. Adams has undergone surgery to repair a broken left wrist after a fall from the stage at the Liverpool Royal Court. All shows in Europe and the US were cancelled as a result.

A spokesperson for the star told NME.COM today (February 5) that Adams is out of hospital and being looked after at home.

He said: "Ryan is out of surgery and in the recovery room. The doctor said the operation went well. They are releasing him to girlfriend Parker (Posey)'s care.

Poor nurse...

RYAN ADAMS: HAVING A BROKEN WRIST IS HELL

Ryan Adams has released a series of horrific hospital pictures taken just minutes after he smashed his wrist falling offstage at the Liverpool Royal Court (January 22). Members of Adams' road crew shot a series of gory ictures of the singer's treatment. While there, medics had to 'snap' the hand back into place.

Adams told NME: "It was so shocking to look at my wrist detached from my arm. It was surreal. You don't ever expect to look at that. I didn't faint or anything, but I think if I'd stared at it long enought I probably would have freaked out."

"They had to do a thing where one of the doctors held my hand in a fist, and a nurse had to grab my arm and crunch the bone back into place. They gave me this morphine and this laughing gas. I screamed and kicked the nurse. She was a tough lady but they had to hold my feet down. It was fucked-up."
The pictures, seen here for the first time, show Ryan in surprisingly good form, posing from his hospital bed. He's also posted a short film of his trip to the hospital on his official website, www.ryan-adams.com.

But that's not all. Hardcore Adams fans have been downloading MP3 files of the song that almost ended his career. Early last week a bootleg of 'Shadowlands' started circulating among messageboards and newsgroups. Halfway through the song a sickening thud is clearly heard and Adams attempts to continue singing. However, realising the true extent of his injury, he rushes backstage, mumbling "It's broken". Ever the good sport, the singer is streaming the song online too.

Adams said he may suffer from arthritis in his hand as a result of the fall.
