I know what I said, and what an opinion is, thank you very much. I'm not going to go around adding "in my opinion" to the end of every post, but maybe I should so some can pick up on that. Figures of speech much? How do you pronounce Pryck, by the way?

Casino's technically brilliant... but I can't say I enjoyed it. There was a bit of a discussion about it in one of the older Random Talk threads right after I saw it.

The phrase "doesn't change the fact" doesn't exactly mean that it's a fact. You think the scene worked, showed your rationale, I disagreed and did the same, let's leave it at that. Not to say that my opinion is right, but it does come at a strange point in the film, randomly jumping ahead and going from a straight narrative to a documentary-style scene. That felt out of place and her acting in that scene, which I found over the top, did not help either.

And I don't need the lesson in how to speak my opinion, thanks.

Last night I was privileged to see an advance screening of Pineapple Express, from the same guys that wrote Superbad. Holy shit is this thing funny. Every time it threatened to get a little exhausting something totally hilarious would happen. Rogen and Franco are a great duo, reuniting for the first time since Freaks & Geeks. Franco really has to be seen to be believed; he is such a convincing burnout and his line deliveries...just perfect timing.

What set this film apart from the other Judd Apatow-produced films is the direction of indie film darling David Gordon Green, who doesn't make the proceedings artsy or anything, but gets at the humanity of these guys with a much more deft touch than normally seen. And what is also great is that he brought one of his old actors on board, Danny McBride, who played Bust-Ass in All The Real Girls. McBride is the surprise highlight of this film. He brought down the house with some of his lines, and thankfully returns in the latter part of the film, which becomes an action film homage/parody that is totally over the top.

I'm not a regular pot smoker, nor was I stoned when watching this film. But it clearly ranks with any of the great drug comedies, and if I enjoyed it this much sober, I can only imagine how funny it would be to those under the influence.

Easily the funniest film of the year.

That's really great to hear. Danny McBride was hilarious in Hot Rod, too, and has a small part in Tropic Thunder, too, if I'm not mistaken. I've been looking forward to this since its announcement and the trailers have been more enjoyable than most of the movies have been this summer.

I smoke rarely, and I'm usually pretty drunk when doing so. If I smoke sober I tend to freak out a little. Which is a shame because I totally encourage people to use it, and wish I could partake more myself.

Watched both films.

Eh, liked some of it.

The part I enjoyed best was the coming attraction for "Machete", frankly. "But they soon realized, they just fucked with wrong Mexican". Love it.

I'm not a big Zombie movie fan, so a send up or an homage or both to that genre means little to me and does little for me. I did crack up, though, when Cherry used her gun-leg to propel herself over the wall. Also, Jeff Fahey was enjoyable.

Death Proof was a lot more enjoyable. Enjoyed the usual Tarantino banter done from the female perspective. I like Kurt Russell so it was cool seeing him front and center. Got a little weary of the "boo-yah" stuff, but, liked the film overall.

Oh, and Sidney Portier's daughter is gorgeous.

The trailers were all great, but that was my favorite. Cheech Marin with the two shotguns, "fucked with the wrong Mexican", and Machete with the guy's wife and daughter killed me. Apparently Rodriguez wants to make that into a full-length movie.

I'm with you on the PT < DP debate... Kurt Russell absolutely owned that role.
