Toy Soldiers. That's right, fuckers, I own it and I watched it.
Chappy's in it. Nuf said.

Control.
I enjoyed this greatly. The performance scenes were too few and far between, but riveting anyway.
Thought the guy playing Curtis was great, and this was one of the few films about a musician/band that felt real and humanistic to me. I cared for Curtis as a character in the film, as opposed to the Curtis I knew prior....if that makes any sense.
Sweet ironing, the DVD is sitting on my counter right now and I have to watch this tonight because it's due back tomorrow. Glad to hear it's a joy to watch.
I'm not generally a fan of Ferrell's brand of 'dumb' comedies, but despite this, I've found myself reluctantly laughing whenever I've seen a commercial for this on tv. Then I saw Ferrell and Reilly on Colbert in the past week or so, and they were really funny. I'll probably wait for dvd, but I think this one's going to merit a viewing.Step Brothers
I haven't laughed as hard at a movie in a long time. You've really got to be a fan of the Angry Ferrell Shouting brand of comedy to enjoy it, I think, but if you buy into that, you'll be fine. It's about as bizarre a comedy as I've seen in a while, too, but it's fully aware of that and uses it to great effect. You'll see half of the lines of this movie on T-shirts by the end of the summer.
7/10
Hey, I watched the movie Good Will Hunting on TV the other day. Yes, on TV. I own it and I've seen it a hundred times before so it's ok.
But, goddam. I hadn't seen it in probably two years or so and it hit me again. I feel like I could be able to write up a pretty fuckin good post about my thoughts on the movie but right now I'm finding it difficult. Maybe one day I'll wake up and realize that I spent 150 grand on an education that I coulda got for $1.50 in late fees at the public library.
Anyway, yeah, I'm sure all of you have seen it. But I just felt like saying how much I love it.
And Ben Aflleck? Hilarious. A great performance. That guy, despite all the shit he has received in his career, can really steal a scene with the best of 'em. Shakespeare in Love is another example that comes to mind.
Robin Williams? Another guy who has taken a lot of shit. He delivers us such a great character. And he received an Oscar that he deserved.
"Hey it's me, Will. Remember? We went to kindergarten together."
"Don't forget the coffee!"
"Retainer!...retainer...keep your ear to the grindstone"
I could go on and on so I'll stop now.

I hope you enjoy it....I mean, it's sad to watch in a way, obviously...but I still really liked it.
I still prefer the sequel, GAF.
I did. Very much. As you said, even though Curtis still is shown as being somewhat of a bastard, he's still likable in the movie and you feel for him. Corbijn has some beautiful shots in the film, and the black and white really looks great. I watched a bit of the features afterwards and he said they chose the black and white because all of the photographs the band ever allowed published were in black and white, as well as their album covers. I also didn't realize while watching it that the actors themselves were actually playing and singing during the performance parts of the film, which is quite impressive in and of itself. I really liked how they gave meaning to the lyrics to some of the songs they showed in the film, definitely gave me more of a connection to some of those tracks. I have a feeling I'm going to be on a Joy Division kick for the next few days.
Admittedly, there were a few times where I had to rewind the film repeatedly because I couldn't figure out what the crap was being said, which is frustrating to me as I generally feel like I'm at least some what in the "know" about British slang/phrases. Cursed accents and foreign slang!
Casino
Last and only good performance by Sharon Stone.
3 1/2 hour movie
Pesci at his finest.
She was in it?
Check her out in Alpha Dog.
She completely took me out of that movie... the scene with her in the fat suit was a lesson in over-acting.
I'm not going to lie, Justin Timberlake was the best thing about it.
Yeah, but I think that was the point. She was supposed to be completely unhinged due to the death of her son and the stepson's role in the whole scenario.
Timberlake was definitely the best thing about the movie! He was awesome! Hell, I almost cried at the end when he had to lie to the kid.
Yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that the scene felt out of place and that she can't act.
That ain't a "fact". That's your "opinion" that the scene "felt" out of place.
Let's move on because I really couldn't give a rat's ass about Sharon Stone, but she did give a good performance in Alpha Dog as well as, of course, Casino.
