I recommend (with civility, bitches) Bruce Springsteen, Red Hot Chili Peppers (though I only like the Frusciante albums), and Franz Ferdinand.

Buy this C.D. for less than 5 dollars! You hate it, you throw it away for good! Just try it please!

Crowded House fans who aren't content to settle for a Neil Finn solo album every few years may well appreciate Joe 90. The four-piece band's debut, Dream This, offers a similar meld of thoughtful lyrics and catchy, vibrant pop-rock marked by Chris Seefried's ever-so-slightly sandpapery vocals. Appealing on first listen, the disc reveals depth after a few plays; while tracks such as "Ferris Wheel" and "Mascara" rely as much on craft as art, they're also hard to say no to. A healthy measure of the Lennonesque also makes the likes of "Truth" and "Super Hero" sound familiar while belonging very much to the group. --Rickey Wright

Guys, he did say popular artist! and asked for the most accessible albums! That's why I don't understand recommendations like Stone Roses. They had what.. 2 albums?

The quality of those two albums is what matters, and without the Stone Roses, you don't have Brit Pop and will never understand Madchester, two immensely enjoyable moments in music. And by listening to the Roses, he'll definitely get into Smiths, Oasis, Blur and Verve...

So Stone Roses debut album must be his next purchase.

Without the Stone Roses you don't have acid house, and without acid house you don't have Primal Scream or Blur.

Smiths did not start britpop. :tsk: They weren't even britpop themselves.

Yeah, British pop kinda goes back to even the 60s, doesn't it? Without groups like the Kinks or the Beatles, a lot of the British bands that followed may have never existed.

Also, LOL, COBL_04. You're welcome, have fun! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on whatever you check out.

SHOULD read:

. . . and without The Smiths, you don't have Brit Pop . . .

Smiths-scene, as part of Madchester, popularised and kickstarted Stone Roses, which gave a massive kick-start to Brit-Pop, namely Oasis, who kinda ended this particular chain, giving way for post-U2-rock?, aka Travis, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Keane, The Thrills?

Oh, come on people. Your big text has been wasted on the wrong bands. It's all about ...

PORCUPINE TREE.

James LaBrie gives Porcupine Tree a loud "YEAH, MUTHAFUCKA!"

Now you've got to listen.

She Bangs The Drums is one of the best songs ever, IMO. Just pure Brit-pop bliss.

Thanks for posting those links! I really enjoyed those tunes. Been wanting to get The Very Best of The Stone Roses for quite some time now. It's on my Amazon wish list. From the reviews, this collection seems to be the preferred choice even more than the actual albums!

But man, you forgot Ten Storey Love Song! That's the only song of theirs I've ever known (and loved).

Well, I was just talking about the debut. Love Spreads is also a great song.

Well, I just built a 650-song, 1.8-day-long playlist from the recommendations here on the Rhapsody online music service -- that oughta keep me busy for awhile! Lots of great looking stuff here.

T.REX:
Electric Warrior (timeless masterpiece)
The Slider (another masterpiece with the special glam factor)
Tanx (the unterrated experimantal album)

GAVIN FRIDAY:
Shag Tobacco (gavin is the real cool bono)

RAMMSTEIN:
Sehnsucht
