I also noticed that they never seem to need to use the bathroom. What the hell is up with that? Show's bullshit.

Well, who is mowing the lawns in the walking dead? Must be the wig maker.

A friend owns the entire (reboot, obviously) series of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA on DVD. He loaned them to me nearly a year ago. They sat on the shelf, literally collecting dust (I don't dust my bookshelves) for all this time, and about two weeks ago I finally found myself in the mood to check it out.

Being a member of this forum, it was hard to get past all of the long-running jokes associated with the series (the Politically Insightful Muldfeldisms), but that faded away as soon as I took a puff of weed and popped the disc into the DVD player.

This shit is great. I love it. I just finished Season 1. It's a lot of fun, I find almost all of the main characters to be pretty damn likable, and I feel the story will keep growing and improving in the coming seasons. I'll run off some more quick notes. Please don't spoil me on anything, please:

1. STARBUCK is easily my favorite character. Got damn. I have a huge crush. She's a badass, she's got a great smile, and she's the best pilot in the fleet. Let's go.
2. My second favorite character is GAIUS BALTAR. Dude is hilarious, but also has a lot of depth to him. Love the moments where he has to hold two conversations simultaneously...one with Number 6 and one with someone else who doesn't see Number 6.
3. Number 6 has a great body.
4. The show is a bit more corny/campy/cheesy than I had expected.
5. Love the visual similarities to Star Wars. The Viper ships look just like something out of Lucas' universe, and I love me some OUTERSPACE DOGFIGHTS.
6. I also get a bunch of LOST vibes from this show. The huge cast of characters, the tendency to focus on one particular character's storyline each episode, the way the show is colored, the mythology, the mystery.
7. The actress playing BOOMER is gorgeous and she is also very bad at acting.
8. Dude playing Lee Adama looks a lot like a young TOM CRUISE.
9. The S1 finale was pretty crazy.

A dozen naked Boomers! Starbuck vs. Number 6! Boomer shoots Adama!

10. Frak me!

Duuuude, Season 2 is so so much better. Then it all goes somewhat downhill from there, but is basically still good. Ends strong. You're in for some amazing shit for now though.

I do agree with all your observations. Season one, may not be the best?, but who cares. The consistency is about as good as Breaking Bad, the less good episodes are solid 7.5s and the real good ones are well into the 9s.

As you keep watching, I think you will even have to agree with Mulfield.

It almost would have to be, wouldn't it?

I've been meaning to check it out.

Also, anyone watching Hemlock Grove?

I like the tone and feel despite the acting being uneven.

whatever credibility I have
I need to come back and say, after watching the 2nd episode, it is not very good at all. there are some good visuals, like that picture I posted, but I can not recommend this and even still say it is better than the others, I mentioned.

Ugh. I guess I'll look forward to S3 of Falling Skies.

like even the best series, Battlestar occasionally hits a rough patch spinning interesting character stories across all 75 episodes, but the fundamental quality is always there- the showrunner Ronald Moore is solid for some awesome left-field moments of plotting. It's a great TV show, and a smart decision for you to pick it up.

ugh now this makes me want to watch it again

So The Americans finished strong. Glad I got caught up after falling behind from the fifth episode.

Skipping to the end, I loved how Phil had the man hunting them (and who just shot Liz) to mind the kids. Just a little 'fuck you'. Also glad that while they let Paige notice that something was up with her Mum, she didn't suddenly become Nancy Drew and spot something that a suddenly incompetent Liz left out in the open.

Hope that Granny is back next season, definitely more ground to cover there. I hear that the actress is pretty good in Justified season 2, need to get round to that after the wife and I are done (re)watching Breaking Bad and The Wire.

Yup, great finale. Solid job putting all the pieces together plotwise, and constructing decisions like whether or not the double agent should tell the Russians about the mission for her exfiltration.

Margo Martindale, apparently, will be in season 2 depending on whether or not a CBS pilot she's in gets picked up.

Agreed, great finale to a great season. Many things impressed me about the show, nothing more than the respect the show runners showed the audience.

Here's hoping Margo Martindale's sitcom pilot is shit. And she's terrific in Justified, MS.

5 episodes into Hannibal now- if anyone is dying to get involved with an awesome NBC drama that is a tossup for cancellation, then this is your show. Beautiful cinematography, truly unsettling crimes, and an amazing slow-burn from Mads Mikkelsen. Hugh Dancy is the lead of the show, but the show is doing an elegant job of placing Hannibal lurking on the sides.

Finally watched the finale last night. I really like this show, definitely my favorite new show of the last year or so.

I might watch this one day if for no other reason than to see Le Chiffre's performance.

It's pretty good. I'll be disappointed if it gets cancelled. But not surprised.

Rectify on Sundance Channel...I give it a strong recommendation (so far).
