Like any good actor, Vincent Kartheiser knows the importance of the rehearsal process.

Before popping the question to girlfriend Alexis Bledel, the Mad Men actor (who plays Pete Campbell) jokingly practiced his proposal on set with costars Elisabeth Moss and Jessica Paré.

"It was purely comedic but he was giving [Elisabeth] and I a facetious rendition of his planned proposal," Paré told PEOPLE at the season 6 premiere of the hit AMC show Wednesday night. "We were like, 'Great! Lets do this one without cursing and without yelling!' "

Top of the Lake is true-to-form Campion so far. Going to be remarkable I'm sure.

In more conventional news, I finally watched Game of Thrones Season 2 and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I almost hate myself for enjoying something like this so much, but it just hits all the top-level pleasure centers.

A friend of mine on FB called it the best-looking television show ever.

I wanted to dispute him but couldn't think of an alternate. Twin Peaks? Carnivale?

You have so many more valid reasons to hate yourself, though.

Top of the Lake is sitting in my DVR. Will watch soooooon.

Yes. Breaking Bad, Luck also. House of Cards. Mildred Pierce if we're calling that a "show" which Top of the Lake isn't strictly speaking either. It's a lot harder for a TV production to stand out with brilliant photography these days, and that's a wonderful thing.

Twin Peaks has stayed with me all these years later. Breaking Bad likely will, too.

Brendan Brady was killed of last night in Hollyoaks . Oh well, actors do like a good death scene, so I've heard . He was such a big character so perhaps the best way for him to go was with a bang! I will miss Emmet Scanlan though. He was hottest guy in soapland and he had such amazing screen presence. I have no concern of him getting work though, he's such a brilliant actor who's far too good for Hollyoaks, so fair play to him for sticking around for almost 3 years. I know that even the best actors go for periods of being out of work, but someone as talented as him are bound to get more opportunities.

Actually acting seems to be tougher than singing. No wonder Bono and Ali were so concerned about Eve wanting to become an actress. If a signed musician wants to work then they write an album or go on tour, with acting you've got to compete with hundred of others for one role.

I started watching Top of the Lake last night. Loved it. Thanks for yakking about it here, because I'd read about it recently and then completely forgotten about it.

Also, yay for Comcast On Demand having it in HD, considering we don't have Sundance HD in our line-up.

Season five finale of Curb (Larry dying then coming back to life after giving Richard Lewis his kidney) must rank up there as one of the worst episodes of a great show. What an excruciating 45 minutes.

And now we can welcome Orphan Black, the second original series from BBC America (after Copper), and what a thoroughly impressive, wildly entertaining hour it is.

But maybe, in some ways, Orphan Black goes beyond that description. It’s addictive and compelling -- you want the next episode mere seconds after the previous one has ended, which is always a fantastic sign. But even beyond that, there’s little doubt that Orphan Black is more than just a thrill ride or some guilty pleasure. It is, flat out, one of the most intriguingly entertaining new series of the year, and it’s so much more than pure entertainment. For a sci-fi series, there’s some real heft to it.
hmmmm

Variety thinks its pretty blah, Dan Feinberg and Alan Sepinwall think it was worthwhile with a much better lead performance than Sarah Michelle Gellar on Ringer. Seems worth giving a shot.
