This definitely crossed my mind and would impact any decisions. It would have to be a substantial pay raise with whatever job I could muster to maintain my quality of life, which probably isn't in the cards. As a frame of reference, I'm paying $675 for an 800 square foot place by myself right now. Just started my third year in too. I'm not totally against the idea of having roommates again, but a one bedroom is definitely the preference.
Yeah, that rent is totally not happening in Manhattan. My brother-in-law lived there for a few years trying to make it as an actor (and Olive Garden waiter). I think he had two roommates and they still could't afford a place anywhere near the theater district. He finally packed it in and moved back to Texas.
