Something is about to give
I can feel it coming
I think I know what it means

I'm not afraid to die
I'm not afraid to live
And when I'm flat on my back
I hope to feel like I did

And hardness, it sets in
You need some protection, the thinner the skin

I want you to know
That you don't need me anymore
I want you to know
You don't need anyone or anything at all

Who's to say where the wind will take you?
Who's to say what it is will break you?
I don't know which way the wind will blow
Who's to know when the time has come around?
Don't wanna see you cry
I know that this is not goodbye

In summer, I can taste the salty sea
There's a kite blowing out of control on a breeze
I wonder what's gonna happen to you
You wonder what has happened to me

I'm a man
I'm not a child
A man who sees
The shadow behind your eyes

Who's to say where the wind will take you?
Who's to say what it is will break you?
I don't know where the wind will blow
Who's to know when the time has come around?
I don't wanna see you cry
I know that this is not goodbye

Did I waste it?
Not so much I couldn't taste it
Life should be fragrant
Rooftop to the basement

The last of the rock stars
When hip-hop drove the big cars
In the time when new media
Was the big idea
That was the big idea

Took a little trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo a few days ago. Didn't do much (it's hard to get good shots with all the reflective glass and fences in the way...), but got a few keepers.

So much sadness in those eyes :(

Great pics, Diemen

Awesome pics!

I can no longer go to zoos after going to Africa, I find it all so terribly sad (even though I know most of those animals can't survive in the wild anymore). :(

Fabulous shot! Love it. Well done.

And I'm a prime lens fan too.

Thanks :)

If you get the chance, try the Zeiss lineup. The build quality is of another world than what Canon and Nikon are doing. The focus ring is so smooth, the lens in general is all metal and glass - not plastic or rubber. It feels incredible in your hands.

I love the giraffe one, so soft.
What camera are you shooting with Diemen?

The old and venerable Canon 20D. :) The Gorilla pics were with a 24-70 f/2.8L, and the rest with the 70-200 f/4L.

Anitram, though I haven't been to Africa, I know what you mean. Some of the animals don't seem to mind their enclosures, but it is sad to see the ones that spend their times pacing back and forth over the same spot, or the apes, that look so... subdued most of the time.

yeah that's a cool thing. A friend of mine who is a pro, had it for a long time and he once gave it to me to try a few things. I really liked it...good results.
but he recently updated to another canon...don't remember which exactly but it was a few thousand euros. but I don't really see a difference when looking at newer shooting pics lol.

Took some long Exposure Model photos last night. Some came out a tad blurry. My favorite ones are the beach shots!

So, my brother is going on a safari in South Africa and is only going to take a little point'n'shoot.
I've offered him my D40X and lenses for the trip. I hope he takes me up on it.
I've warned him about the weight and bulk, but how many times are you going to get to South Africa?

Plus the D40X is so not bulky! When I went to Africa I had a point and shoot (my first camera) and it was bulkier than many of today's low end DSLRs and not half as good.

The D40X isn't, but my 2 Sigma lenses he should take are:

10-20mm--over 1 lb.

150-500mm--over 4 lbs.

But seriously, the memories he will capture...

Yeah, seriously!! Besides on safari you just sit in the Land Rover. I would take the 150-500mm and just leave my water behind!
