"Let It Ride" was played tonight on a Santa Monica radio station. In their playlist, it was listed as a single. Someone described it as sounding like matured Whiskeytown, which I think is fitting.
"Cold Roses" and "Magnolia Mountain" were both streaming on Ryan's official site recently.
"Now That You're Gone" and "If I'm A Stranger" were released on a 7" back in November, so those aren't REALLY new, but they are probably new to many of you.
If you'd like to hear those songs, contact me, and I'll tell you how to access them. I don't have a way to post links or else I would. Since "Cold Roses" and "Magnolia Mountain" are just web site rips, the quality isn't that great, but it's better than nothing.
Here are the lyrics (pardon any errors or missing parts, I'm yoinking them from elsewhere...I didn't transcribe them myself):
~~~
"Let It Ride"
Movin' like the fog on the Cumberland River
I was leaving on the Delta Queen
I wasn't ready to go
I'm never ready to go
27 years of nothin' but failures and promises that I couldn't keep
Oh, Lord, I wasn't ready to go
I'm never ready to go
Let it ride
Let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of the darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of strangers, angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it go
Loaded like a sailor stumbling off the ferry boat
I was at the bar 'til 3:00
Oh, Lord, and I wasn't ready to go
I'm never ready to go
Tennessee's a brother to my sister Carolina where they're gonna bury me
And I ain't ready to go
I'm never ready to go
Let it ride let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of this darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of strangers, angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it go
I wanna see you tonight
Dancing in the endless moonlight
In the parking lot, in the headlights of cars
Someplace over the moon
Where they moved the drive-in theater
Where I left the car that I can't find that I still got the keys to
Let it ride
Let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of this darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of strangers, angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it go
"Cold Roses"
Mirrors in the room go black and blue
On a Sunday morning in Saturday shoes
We don't choose who we love
We don't choose
[???]
[???]
In a Sunday suit, with the Saturday beat
She don't love who she chose
She don't need what she do
Daylight comes in exposin'
Saturday bruises and cold roses
Cold roses
Nothin' but the sunlight'll help you grow from underneath your bed
You can't see the window
We don't choose what we see
We don't choose
Fortunate and angry just like a child
All that money buys you medicine but can't buy you time
We don't choose what we love
And she don't need what she got
Daylight comes in exposin'
Saturday bruises and cold roses
Cold roses
Cold roses
Cold roses
Cold roses
"Magnolia Mountain"
I wanna go to Magnolia Mountain
And lay my weary head down
Down on the rocks
Of the mountain my savior made
Steady my soul and ease my worry
Hold me when I rattle like a hummingbird hummin'
Tie me to the rocks of the mountain my savior made
Lie to me
Sing me a song
Sing me a song until the morning comes
If the morning come, will you lie to me
Will you take me to your bed
Will you lay me down
Til' I'm heavy like the rocks in the riverbed
That my savior made
I wanna be the bluebird singing
Singing to the roses in her yard
Roses in her yard her father grew for her
It's been raining like Tennessee honey
So long I got too heavy to fly
Ain't no bluebird ever gets too heavy to sing
Lie to me
Sing me a song
Sing me a song until the morning comes
And if the morning don't come, will you lie to me
Will you take me to your bed
Will you lay me down
Ti'l I'm heavy like the rocks in the riverbed
That my savior made
. . . please
We burn the cotton fields down in the valley
And ended up with nothing but scars
Scars became the lessons that we gave to our children after the war
There ain't nothing but the [truth/tunes] of Magnolia Mountain
Where nobody ever dies
Steady your soul and ease your worry
They got room [???]
Lie to me like I lie to you
Hold me down until the morning comes
And if the morning don't come
Will you lie to me
Will you take me to your bed
Will you lay me down
Ti'l I'm heavy like the rocks in the riverbed
That my savior made
. . . please
"Now That You're Gone"
I ain't afraid of her
I've hurt so much it feels just like normal to me now
I'm alone and I'm dancin', with you now, in your old room, in your old house
I'm alone and I'm dancin', with you now, in your old room, but there's nobody there
Now that you're gone
Now that you're gone
Everything you ever touched, the fingerprints like
Crime scene evidence undisturbed in dust
I don't dare touch anything of yours, because it's evidence of us
And it means everything
Well sort of
I'm alone and I'm dancin', with you now, in your old room, in your old house
I'm alone and I'm dancin', with you now, in your old room, but there's nobody there
Now that you're gone
Now that you're gone
Now that you're gone
Now that you're gone
Gone
I'm alone and I'm dancin' with you now, in your old room, in your old house
I'm alone and I'm dancin' with you now, in your old room, but there's nobody there
Now that you're gone
Now that you're gone
For good
"If I'm A Stranger"
For all the hours here that move to slow
There's all this letting go, that won't pass
If all this love is real, how will we know?
And if I'm only scared of losing it, how will it last?
If I am a stranger now to you
I will always be, I will always be
Stronger now then me, stronger then you
Love will always be
If we let it go, I'll try to be there for you
If I can, what if I can?
Today is yesterday when you don't know
Out to build the walls that someone has knocked down
To tell the truth its hard enough about a lover
Who you want to hide your darkness from
So you'll let um down
If I am a stranger now to you
I will always be, I will always be
Stronger now then me, stronger then you
Love will always be
If you let it go, I'll try to be there for you
If I can, what if I can?
For all the hours here that move to slow
There's all this letting go, that don't pass
If all this love is real, how will we know?
And if were only scared of losing it, how will it last?
