I think we need some more Up love in here.

Lotus
Suspicion
Daysleeper
Walk Unafraid
Falls to Climb
At My Most Beautiful
Diminished
Sad Professor
Hope

:drool::drool::drool:

:combust: So many solid songs!!!

Walk Unafraid is itself worth the price of the CD I think.

Green is amazing.

Get Up
You Are The Everything
Orange Crush
Turn You Inside Out
Hairshit
The Wrong Child

Wow, you mention Up and not Why Not Smile.

What year? :sexywink:

'91 I believe...it's not all awesome vintage like Edge's but I love it dearly.

i mean I like them alright, Losing My Religion is classic, they have some good tunes but...i just can't really get into them. what am I missing?

Hope is the only "Up" song I really like from that album.

But like is not a strong enough word.

It's one of their best tunes. It just builds, and builds. And I love that under all those keys and beeps is a strumming acoustic guitar.

A SOUL?????

Totally kidding.

(Damn, you all are too fast. That was a response to AtomicBono.)

I forgot.

I really should have just listed the entire tracklisting. I fucking love that album. In fact it deserves another spin as soon as I'm done with Yoshimi again.

Yoshimi > Up

I really like Up, but the Bill Berry factor is huge for me.

I think we're all soon gonna realize that we like more REM songs and albums than those of U2's!

We could very easily start dumping on post Bill Berry REM. But let's not. Let's talk about what we actually like. Something that is impossible in "EYKIW."

Murmur for the early days.

Automatic for the later days.

say "keep within the boundaries if you want
to play."
say "contradiction only makes it harder."
how can I be
what I want to be?
when all I want to do is strip away
these stilled constraints
and crush this charade
shred this sad masquerade
I don't need no persuading
I'll trip, fall, pick myself up and
walk unafraid
I'll be clumsy instead
hold my love me or leave me
highhh...

:faint:

In responce to AtomicBono:

Best Unique American Band Ever.

Really, Out of Time isn't a great place to start with R.E.M.

I'd suggest you pick up Automatic for the People and Life's Rich Pageant. You can't go wrong there. ;)

I can send you any REM album.

What do you want?

Rocking? Mellow? Modern?

I'd honestly say that as a whole, I prefer R.E.M.'s catalog of albums to U2's entire Catalog. I mean, R.E.M. have at least 5 albums on par with The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby.

hmm I don't have any of those..I'll go for it

when does arcade fire come out? this tuesday? i havent gotten the leak yet...

Speaking of the Radiohead/R.E.M. spiel, Disappear on Reveal is inspired by How to Disappear Completely off of Kid A.

So it's Michael Stipe emulating Thom Yorke who emulated Michael Stipe. Awesome.

Yeah, I was about to say, everything Radiohead have done Post-OK is almost directly a result of Up. Another good reason for Brau to hate Post-Berry R.E.M.

wow replies to this thread are fast

i'm cool with anything. I guess in general I'd go for rocking but mellow can be good too  Automatic maybe? since people suggested it?

if you send me something you can have anything in my music collection, though i'm sure you have plenty more than me  but if you want anything let me know...

Kid A, Amnesiac, and Hail to the Thief are a result of Up?

I can't see it, sorry.
