Don't worry, that's probably the last time you'll ever see me here, so you should be able to bring this thread to 1000 posts. I was sort of trying to go elsewhere and ended up here by mistake

The Red Sox avoided arbitration with Bronson Arroyo by signing him to a three year, $11.2 million deal. Apparently there is some kind of gentlemen's agreement not to trade him this offseason. But this does make him quite attractive. Here are a few other free agent signings and you'll see why:

Jarrod Washburn 8-8 4 yrs $37.5M
Matt Morris 14-10 3 yrs $27M
Esteban Loaiza 12-10 3 yrs $21.4M

Bronson Arroyo 14-10 3yrs $11M

Epstein to rejoin Red Sox
January 19, 2006

BOSTON --Theo Epstein is rejoining the Boston Red Sox, 2 1/2 months after he turned down a three-year, $4.5 million offer to remain as general manager.

Epstein and Red Sox management issued a joint statement Thursday saying he will return to the organization full-time, but they did not say in what capacity Epstein would rejoin the team. His return had been rumored almost since the day he slipped out of Fenway Park wearing a borrowed gorilla costume to avoid the media.

With Theo playing short and Troy Brown in center field, the Sox look to be in fine shape for 2006.

:coocoo: :shame: :censored:

I couldn't decide and thought these were all appropriate for how I feel about the Red Sox right now.

i love the fact that theo left the first time in a gorilla suit... that's awesome.

The funny thing is that a bunch of reporters were standing outside waiting for Theo, then they saw the guy in the gorilla suit. Then one reporter said "hey, who's that guy in the gorilla suit getting into Theo Epstein's car?"

SOUTH SIDE REPORT
Series trophy stolen, glued to Camaro hood
The Daily Heckle, Friday, January 13, 2006

He was only in possession of it for eight hours, say authorities, but that was long enough for White Sox fan Peter Pulicki to visit a dozen bars with the 2005 World Series trophy affixed to the hood of his white Chevrolet Camaro Iroc-Z.

"What a rush," said Pulicki, speaking from jail. "It was the greatest night of my life. A few weeks behind bars are a small price to pay for being part of White Sox history."

Pulicki's joy ride began outside Jimbo's Lounge, where the longtime Sox fan used a lead pipe to assault White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko and his private security escort. Pulicki then absconded with the World Series hardware.

"I felt bad jumping Paulie, but I just had to know what it felt like to be a winner," he said. "After welding the trophy onto my Iroc, I hit the town feeling like a baseball god."

Authorities say Pulicki, a part-time UPS package handler, attempted to use the trophy to lure at least six women into the back of his Camaro. They all refused.

"He was bragging about how he had something to show me in the parking lot," said Megan Ballington, a waitress at Hooters. "First of all, I've heard that before. Second of all, an oversized hood ornament doesn’t change the fact he had an overbite and way too much exposed chest hair."

the mets traded benson.

So much for our depth in the starting rotation. Maybe (I mean Hopefully) Omar is cooking something up.

This is the first trade he has made that seems ummmm.......yea, no.

It may be a bit early to judge though. Maybe hes using this to land a bigger fish.

they want to let heilman start and they were tired of having to deal with the anticts of anna benson just over a slighty above average pitcher who's been underachieving his entire career... they trade many times to deal him, finally settled on julio, a hard throwing relief guy who's also underachieved but is only 26 and another young pitchter to boot.

now of course benson's going to have a good year this year and met fans will bitch and moan that it's yet another guy who does better when not in a mets uniform and completely ignore the fact that he'll be pitching for leo mazzone who can turn shit into gold. it's the met fan way.
