German Black Metal Band Sued By The Catholic Church! - Nov. 7, 2003

The ridiculous battle between the Holy Inquisition and "Germany's most Satanic metal act" ANCIENT CEREMONY has taken a new twist. After they were banned from performing at the Summer Breeze festival this past summer due to the "blasphemous" nature of their concept and lyrics, ANCIENT CEREMONY's founder/vocalist Chris Anderle has received a letter from the legal representatives of the Catholic church threatening to file a lawsuit against him for expressing his disdain for the church via a series of photos posted on the band's web site. The church's lawyers are demanding that Anderle either remove the offending pictures from the site or pay a fine of 10,000 euros. The group's legal representative is currently studying the matter.
