The Who's John Entwistle is dead

I just heard on the radio that he died in Las Vegas. Don't know anything else about it right now. RIP.

One of--if not the --best bassists of our generation. It's a sad day.

Who bassist Entwistle dead at 57

Band member was in Las Vegas; cause of death unknown

BREAKING NEWS
MSNBC

LOS ANGELES, June 27 — John Entwistle, the bass player for veteran British rock band The Who, was found dead in his Las Vegas hotel room on Thursday, just one day before the group was set to begin a North American tour in the city, the Clark County Coroner said. Entwistle, a bearded, taciturn type affectionately known as “Ox,” died at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, said coroner Ron Flud. An investigation was under way into the cause of death, he added.

All I can say is F*CK.
As I have mentioned here before, The Who was my favorite band as a teenager until U2 came along. I was gonna see them July 26. (I assume they won't continue on without John, but who knows).
This band has had enough tragedy between Keith Moon and the Cincinnatti incident in 79.
A first class guy and the best bass player in rock history. the sound the man could get with 2 fingers was astounding.

It will be interesting to see just how many people here are aware of who he is. 57 is no age.

I just heard it on the radio too
I feel so shaken by this one, too young, too much to be doing.

My deepest sympathy to his family and his band.

That's very sad. It seems so weird because they were just about to tour. I've never been much of a Who fan, but they're among the greats.

Major saddness! :-(

I too just found out about this..What a shock!...They are saying he died of a heart attack...At least that what Associated Press is saying now. Just too sad! Too many of the big musical influences are dying this year..George Harrison now John E.

I also had tickets to go see them this monday at the hollywood bowl!...man what a downer..

My condolences to his family and friends!!!

RIP....

Peace!
