Manchester United and Manchester City

I'm a "fan" of both teams and I check the scores and articles on them in the newspapers every time there's some (once in a week or two) and each team's position in the leagues, but I'm in Montr?al.... I don't know how both leagues works. Any Mancunian or whatever-ian would help me please ? How does the leagues works, what teams are in it ? And, above all, how much it costs for a game (I may go there next year and I intend to go see a game).
