Concerts make me happy.

I miss going to shows.

They Might Be Giants (when I was 15)
a bunch of Christian bands whose names I can't remember because I didn't really like them to begin with (I went to about three of these, usually with four bands/artists)

I didn't start going to real concerts until I moved to DC a year and a half ago.

PJ Harvey/U2
Stereophonics/U2
Stereophonics/U2
Garbage/U2

Then in 2002, my addiction to concerts set in:

Charlatans/Starsailor
JJ72/Stereophonics
JJ72/Stereophonics
Chris Lee/Starsailor
Chris Lee/Starsailor
South/Elbow
Phantom Planet/Remy Zero
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club/Spiritualized
Starsailor
Starsailor
Sid Hillman/Neil Halstead
Eileen Rose/Ed Harcourt
Elbow/Doves
Elbow/Doves
Phazer (really awful and loud local band. Two other bands opened, but I don't remember their names)
They Might Be Giants (at a free outside thing with several other bands that I don't remember)
Ed Harcourt/Neil Finn
Neil Halstead
Horrible, tone-deaf local guy/Neil Halstead
South/Cornelius
OKGO/The Vines
Jimmy Fallon (does he count? )
Coldplay
My Morning Jacket/Doves

I also went to an Ash instore/signing, but missed the performance and just got stuff signed. :reject:

I think that's all of them. I used to go to several a month, but I haven't been to any since September when my concert buddy moved to London. :( But I'm going to see Doves in England in three weeks!! :hyper:

U2
Bruce
Fleetwood Mac
Tom Petty
Stevie Nicks
Billy Joel/Elton John
David Bowie
The Kinks

Van Halen
Journey
Bryan Adams
Beach Boys
The Clash
Lone Justice

Hello,

Nice thread! But also difficult, as I don't think I can remember all acts I've seen live (not that they're that many, but everything is fading away from memory).

Lemme see:

Dire Straits (my first concert)
U2 (9x in total)
Urban Dance Squad (2x)
Melissa Etheridge/Bryan Adams (I went with some friends, it was OK)
Rolling Stones
Johan (Dutch band)
Trockener Kecks (another Dutch band)
Moondog Jr. (later called Zita Swoon, Belgian band)
Bruce Springsteen (2x, and in May next year I'm going to see him again!)

Hmm, that's about it. Maybe when I know more I'll drop in again.

C ya!

Marty

I can't remember them all, damned bad memory :der:
But the ones I can come up with -

Arlo Guthrie
Bob Dylan - (3)
Grateful Dead
Juliana Hatfield (2)
Supersuckers
U2 (5)
PJ Harvey (4)
Bad Religion (3)
Poe
The Goops
Garbage (2)
Hole
Cracker
Foo Fighters
Pyschotica
Metallica
Ramones (2)
Rancid (2)
U.S. Bombs
Rev. Horton Heat (2)
Wu Tang Clan
Voodoo Glow Skulls
Sneaker Pimps
Run-DMC
Goldfinger
Beck
Dirty Three
The Rugburns
Self
NOFX
Pennywise
Face to Face
Unwritten Law
Aimee Mann
Paul Simon

Do DJ's count?

Simple Minds / INXS opened w/the new lead singer (twice)
The Outfield / Berlin opened

The Rolling Stones / No Doubdt opened

I probebly forgot a bunch. I go and see alot of artists when my friends are going just to tag along, even if I really am not into the artist all that much. Its cool to see live performances and sometimes an artist you expect nothing from surprises you.

I went through chronologically as well so that is why some artists appear twice, I saw them again later.

Modest Mouse (they SUCKED)

I caught that tour too. They were AWFUL. Very dissapointing.

I'm not going to list all my shows. There are just way too many. I try to hit a concert a week, if possible.

Last one....hmmmmm........well last big one was Bruce.

:|

U2SavestheWorld and She Is Raging were you familiar with Modest Mouse before the show? What specifically was so crappy about them? I absolutely love their last couple albums The Moon & Antarctica and Lonesome Crowded West. This was one band I was really hoping to see some time in the future.

Shows that I've been to:

U2 (3) - The best of the 3 by far was the one where i had GA
Bob Dylan - Not bad for a senior citizen
Weezer - I should get a refund for this one.
Death Cab for Cutie/The Dismemberment Plan - I went to this show after hearing some good things about the D-Plan, but came away thinking Death Cab was much better (check out their cover of Bjork's All is Full of Love).
Tool (3) - The first two of their shows were pretty damn good, but the last show was the best one I've ever seen. They not only hit you with intense music (think of tribal beats with fat riffs) but stunning visuals. Maynard, the vocalist, sung with his back towards us the whole time a-la Miles Davis. It felt like we were singing with him instead of him to us. This is an extremely talented band with a tight rhythm section and intelligent lyrics.
Ugly Casanova - I went to his one because their vocalist is Ian Brock, frontman of Modest Mouse. This band is decent, more mellow than the Mouse. The best parts were when Brock shouts into his guitar pickup and the last song Styrofoam Boots.
Superdrag/Guided by Voices - This was an enjoyable show, but quite long at about 3.5 hours. GBV played for over 2.5 hours, the longest I've seen any band play for. It felt like they played over 40 songs and by the end of the show the vocalist was wasted.
