'Let Down' doesn't let me down!

A continuation to my "Okaayyy Computer" thread...but Let Down is fast becoming one of those songs that hits me as hard as a U2 song! Especially in combination with Exit Music. Something about the quiet, comtemplative building into the soaring melody of "chemical reaction...hysterically useless..." combined with whatever it is about Thom Yorke's voice that I can't get enough of. lol. I am babbling. Anyways, I'm happy.

Yep, just as I was trying to tell you a month ago. Also, I think you should d/l Unison from Bjork's Vespertine and probably Pagan Poetry too while you're at it.

You told me that? (must go reread original thread. lol) btw, where would I find the afore-mentioned songs? I don't have any file-swapping programs and the only place I can d/l stuff is at work.

sula, I tell you whats up there with the Exit/Let Down combo....Climbing Up The Walls/No Suprises..I spent countless hours and hours with the lights off enduring the finale of CULW and then finding a song like No Suprises light relief afterwards..beatifully merged together

glad you are enjoying it..have you got The Bends yet?

Let Down, for me, was the only Radiohead song that ever lent any credence to all those early U2 comparisons.

Sort of a Joshua-Tree-in-an-airport vibe, really.

Hi sula the gila,

Let Down is a personal favourite of mine as well. I think Thom's voice in this particular song is really amazing (and dare I say heavenly), especially the verse after the electronica-blips-solo..... if you know what I mean. When the voice harmonies come on. I also love how the guitars on this song sound like bells. I don't know how they do it.

Oh and my favourite R/head segue is In Limbo -----> Optimistic. Can't find a starker contrast of two songs!

I love Let Down, and Sula I see what you mean about the U2y ness of it.

The Alien sub song gets me too.

You'll all be happy to know I'm giving OK Computer another chance or three... and its growing on me.

But, nobody seems to like "Electioneering" !? Personally I think there should be more songs like that. Its so hard and beataful. Heh.

Electioneering makes me bop my head and sing in a raspy voice.

Sicy, I love Electioneering! I like that echoey beginning and then when the single guitar starts the riff and then the whole band comes in. Nice and crunchy! (if it can be described that way) And one of the big highlights? That evil little Thom Yorke laugh "ha ha!" Ffffffreaky!

Oh and while we're on the subject of Thom vocals that scare me, how bout that shriek at the end of "Climbing up the Walls"!!!?? wow, if they didn't follow that song up with a soothing number like "No Surprises" I dunno if I could recover. It's like you said, Acrobat...soothing relief. lol. (still have to pick up The Bends tho I've heard it but I don't own it)

-sula

p.s. Glad to see you're givin' OK Computer another chance, Sicy.

I must say, Let down is one of my favorite radiohead songs, EVER!

"The world is often a wicked place, when you look around, but it's also full of beauty...and beauty is the consolation prize really...and we just have to find more of it and we have to look for it in unexpected places...its not just in those fashion spreads,
that's not real beauty...There is beauty to be found in everyday things."
