at night sometimes it seemed
You could hear the whole damn city crying
blame it on the lies that killed us
Blame it on the truth that ran us down
you can blame it all on me Terry
It don't matter to me now
when the breakdown hit at midnight
There was nothing left to say
but I hated him and I hated you
when you went away

Remember all the movies, Terry, we'd go see
Trying to learn how to walk like heroes we thought we had to be
And after all this time to find we're just like all the rest
Stranded in the park and forced to confess
To hiding on the backstreets, hiding on the backstreets

I really truly love this song

There's only one U2 song better than Bad, and it's called One Tree Hill.

And you can swallow
Or you can spit
You can throw it up
Or choke on it

And you can dream
So dream out loud
You know that your time is coming round
So don't let the bastards grind you down

... really?

I thought I was fairly alone with my ragging on TENTH TENTH TENTH TENTH TENTH TENTH Avenue Freeze Out.

Yeah, It's kinda lame, and WAY too much trumpet (never thought you'd hear me say that eh?)

4th Of July really does sound sensational between Promenade and Bad. Leads fantastically into the opening of Bad. Sure, Bass Trap probably would have been an even better choice, but this is still great and really helps the album's cohesiveness.

It SUCKS as the opening track of the b-side though

Wendy let me in
I wanna be your friend
I wanna guard your dreams and visions
Just wrap your legs
Round these velvet rims
And strap your hands crossed my engines

:combust:

Together Wendy
We can live with the sadness
I'll love you with all of the madness of my soul

:cute:

If you should ask
Then maybe they'd tell you what I would say
True colours fly in blue and black
Bruised silken sky and burning flag
Colours crash, collide in bloodshot eyes
If I could, you know I would
If I could, I would
Let it go

This desperation
Dislocation
Separation
Condemnation
Revelation
In temptation
Isolation!
Desolation!
Let it go! And so fade away!
To let it go, alright, and so fade awaaaaayyy!
To let it go, alright, and so fade awaaaaayyy!
I'm wiiiiiiide awaaaaaaake
Wiiiiiiide awaaaaaaake
Wiiiiiiiiide awaaaaaaaaaake
I'm not sleeping, oh no, no, no ...

I've seen them live twice, and I was lucky enough to get One Tree Hillx2, Kite and Bad.

:drool::drool:

Nothing quite as special as being able to yell/sing Bad at the top of your lungs in a live setting, though.

I got a Bad/40 closing  It was a beautiful thing

I think the performance I would have loved to have seen live, it would be the "Kite" performance in Australia ......dedicated to Cate.:up::up::up:

God, the end of Bad is amazing. Everything from "if you should ask" ... back when I was eleven, I heard that for the first time, and it just left me speechless. I played the song over and over again. Apart from The Shadows, it was the first time I really realised just how intensely powerful music can be.

And then Bruce is right back with the sexual innuendo :tsk:

With her killer graces
And her secret places
That no boy can fill

I was only truly, madly, deeply in love with ISS for a short time, then I got over it real quick like. It seems so weak compared to ASOH and Wire

The light that strikes the tallest trees will not light a way for I, since I'm photophobic and it'll just blind me. Fuck you, light, FUCK YOU!
